I own a Canon Powershot SD1200 IS. When I plug it in to my computer the camerawindow program to transfer my images doesn't open (it normallly automatically opens). when I plug the camera in and turn it on, the screen goes blank and the green light blinks for a while, but when I try to manually open the program it says that the program cannot be executed directly. How do I fix this?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.
Supported windows Operating system
Windows 98 Second edition(SE) Windows Me Windows 2000 Service pack 4 Windows XP SP 1 and SP 2
Canon PowerShot A430 has no update about the new driver software for windows 7
Try doing this direct transfer in your computer
1. Connect the camera to your computer using the supplied USB cable of your camera.
2. Set the mode dial to (playback) and turn on the power. The camera and computer will be able to communicate.
3. If there is no pop up window that has Canon CameraWindow, Click the [Start] menu and select [all Programs] or [Programs]. followed by [Canon Utilities], [Camera Window], [PowerShot-IXY-IXUS-DV 6] and [CameraWindow]
4. Download the images. * Download the images using the camera or the computer. * By default, the downloaded images are saved into the [My Pictures] folder.
** If the above process does not work you can just use the memory card of your camera and connect that on your laptop. (some laptop has built in card reader) The memory card works like a flash drive and you can just transfer files like transferring from one folder to another.** Issue on the operating system compatibility.

The save folder it is looking for probably doesn't exist. If you are using Canon CameraWindow DC, cancel out of the download popup by choosing "operate on images on camera". Then click on the button that looks like a folder with the word "set" below it. Click browse and select the folder you want your images saved to. (For example, "My Pictures".) Now click the button that has an arrow pointing from a camera to a computer. Your images should begin downloading to your computer without any error.
It's quite simple .Just connect your canon camera to your computer .when it's connected open the folder and simpley copy all jpeg images and past it where every you want
