An absolute life saver!  I tried this and after five minutes, I had flowing water!  be careful not to touch the back of the fridge after you do this, though.. I singed my hand a little.

My fiance thought I was crazy for taking a blow dryer into the refrigerator but is just as happy as I am not to dish out for repair costs.  I immediately called to cancel the appointment once the water was flowing (my manual said call for service, too.  I would've been irked if I paid $100 for someone to "defrost" a tube).

Thanks again, and Happy New Year!

No water is dispensed but water is getting to the ice maker which is good. This model does not have a filter.

Where is the tank at? I'm having trouble with my dispenser as well and do not see a water line or a "tank" in my fridge.

Brilliant! Thank you so much.
My dispenser was working but not the ice maker. The hair dryer worked in about 5 minutes.

It is possible that your water reservoir is frozen. This is located usually behind the lower fridge side drawers. There is a white "tank" that has a water line going to and from. The tank is there to provide "cold" water. I have had mine freeze on several occasions, and the easiest fix for me is to remove the crisper drawers, and use a hair dryer to help melt the ice. It can take several minutes, so remove any food that you don't want to get warm!

Remember to be careful with the hair dryer, as it is an electrical device!

I hope that this works for you. The product manual for my GE refrigerator suggests that you call a repairman!

I fixed mine by leaving the light on the dispenser on. It took about 6 hrs, but the little heat from the light bulb was enough to defrost the water line.

I have the same problem, although mine is intermittent. Apparently it's a problem with the line freezing. For an excellent discussion of the issue, see http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/advice/t-14182.html

mine did same thing. What is happening is the Water Line in the freezer door is freezing.

SOLUTION. Leave the freezer door open and turn off the freezer for a night. Be sure to dump out all of your ice cubes too.

In the morning it will work like new. To prevent it from happening again, open the FRIDGE door and use the electronic controls to raise the temperature of the freezer. You had it too cold before...thats why your water line froze in the first place.

Ice maker bad or the ice maker water valve mounted on the same bracket as the dispenser is bad. These frigs are prone to bad ice makers after a few years.

Ice maker only dispenses crushed ice, won't dispense cubed ice anymore.

I have a GE TFX25ppbaaa refrigerator. The ice maker corkscrew motor would run and provide crushed ice only. The corkscrew motor would not run when the switch was moved to the cubed ice ( half moon) setting.

I replaced the large Light/ water/ crushed ice/cubed ice switch , ( product service number GEH WR55X129 ) ( part number GE 162D6372 PO17 )and it fixed the problem. Cost was about $43.00.

Take the icemaker out and let it sit in the sink for around 12 hours. Then put it back in. This has worked for me when I have the same problem. I think that the water line is freezing up. I have to do this every month or two.
