Same problem. If I try to scan, it tries to start, but then it shuts down the software completely. I also can no longer use EasyShare photo software, so all my pictures are unusable at this point. Have been in contact with Kodak and nothing has helped so far. I've upgraded firmware, uninstalled software, reinstalled software etc etc etc.

    condition code 5.

Click quit and you get Error Code 1-2036

I have tried removing and installing numerous times. Kodak clear utility also. Even a Kodak Tech called me and no help.

I have also tried to get help from Kodak. Has anyone found an anser to this problem?

I cannot scan either. I get an error 1 - 2007? print and copy works fine?

  • pvurgest Mar 19, 2008

I have the same problem too and am wondering whether it might be my USB causing the problem. I think my USB is version 1.1 and not version 2.0. Is this the same for all? If so, then we may have found the solution

  • Kindererst Mar 20, 2008

will copy and print just fine. will not scan through the resource center or through my pictures. os is xp. spent 2 1/2 hours on phone with tech and repeated everything i had already done-uninstalled, use utility to wipe clean, re-install from cd, repeat then re-install from website, update drivers. she had me trying to uninstall microsoft net 2.0. she said something about a glitch in that so it doesn't allow the scanner to work. the connection wasn't great and i barely understood her. i finally told her to forget it because i was going to to return it.

  • pvurgest Mar 21, 2008

Found solution. Installed using disk and not online. Scanner works if I use Printer / Scanner Wizard in "My Computer". Yippee!

Have you tried to use other application such as camera and scanner wizards. Please try that... If you're able to scan picture then there is nothing wrong with the printer so, you said you uninstall the home center already so try to uninstall and reinstall the .net framework version 2 and then relaunch the software to see what will happen

Well its a solution but you shouldn't have to do it. Having spent several weeks batting e-mails back and forth to Kodak they eventually gave up on me by saying 'it must be your computer' which was pretty unhelpful and also completely wrong.

So in desperation I downloaded a free scanning program called Metadms ver 1.04, installed it and now I'm able to scan using this program, (it does jpgs and pdf). The original Kodak software still works ok for copy and print but still not for scanning. Still at least I have a workround.

I have to say I am most unimpressed by Kodak. I've recently got rid of my Kodak digital camera because it broke twice and they wanted almost as much as the cost of the camera to fix it. Now this bug ridden printer software, which means that as soon as I can I shall be moving over to Epsom/HP/Cannon etc. You think they would realise that so many people are having problems with their products it might be a good idea to spend some time fixing them!

Go to Start>ControlPanel>PrintersAndOtherHardware>ScannersAndCameras>

There Should be an option under "Imaging Tasks" to add the scanner to your network.
Thats what was stopping mine anyway.

Scanner works if I use the printers and faxes, and then select my scanners and cameras button. Don't use the scan button on the easyshare. It shouldn't be that way, but it is.

Why don't you call to the manufacturer for this printer? Everyone has different error codes and different condition for the problem. try www.kodak.com/go/itg or www.kodak.com/go/support

Lines through pictures and only color blue showing

This is an issue with the printhead of the printer. Please follow the below mentioned steps:
  1. Reseat the ink cartridges and the printhead of the printer. If you need help in doing so please go to the link http://faqs.kodak.com/atg/faq/attachments/AUR1780-2.pdf
  2. After you are through with reseating the ink and the printhead, the printer would ask you to go through a calibration and the light on the printer would begin to flash.
  3. To calibrate the printer, put paper in the paper tray and press Start button on the printer. After you have printed the calibration, you will have to scan it so place it on the scanner glass and hit the start button.
  4. After calibrating the printer, try a deep clean by pressing the Cancel and Copy buttons at the same time for two seconds. Wait for a minute and the cleaning process would complete.
  5. Try printing a Demo sheet by pressing Copy and Cancel button.

If you still have lines on the prints, you can get a free printhead replacement from Kodak.

While trying to copy a letter on a kodak 5100 easyshare the page prints out with a yellow strip about 2 inches wide down the entire right side length of the page . Why is it doing this?

Try this one, Turn on the printer, Take out the inks, remove the printhead, put back the printhead make sure it will snap and you hear a click, put the inks back, wait for the printer to initialize, Press the Menu button, look for Calibrate printer, then print calibration page, then scan it after. Load a regular paper. Then try to print a demo page by pressing Photo and Copy at the same for 5 seconds then let it go. If same problem persist call this no for further assistance 1800 421 6699

Printing too light

Kodak EasyShare 5100 series
Clean the print head then print a demo sheet.
  1. Verify that inkjet paper is loaded in the paper trays.
  2. On your desktop, start the KODAK All-in-One Home Center, then select the Help [?] icon.
  3. From the Help menu, select Maintenance, then select Print head Cleaning. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
  4. When the On/Off light glows a steady green, press Photo and Copy simultaneously to print a demo sheet.
If the Demo print is bad- IE: no black, blurry print etc., then you may need to replace the print head:

If so, you may need to replace the printhead. This is a very common problem with this model.

Black ink is faded or doesn't print at all

Once installed, Kodak All-in-One printer Home Center software allows you to print, copy, scan, and configure your All-in-One printer from your Windows XP or Vista computer.
To open the Home Center software window on your computer, use the Home Center icon on the Desktop or in the Start Menu

From the All-in-One printer Home Center main menu, selecting one of the six menu items enables you to:
  • Scan pictures and documents
  • Enhance and copy pictures
  • Enhance and print images
  • Configure settings for printing, copying, and scanning from the control panel
  • Access the Kodak Tips and Projects Center Web site.
  • Order supplies from the Kodak Web site.

Problem with scanner

Hi,
Try to get the scanner operating by using a programme such as paint (open file from scanner or camera) or powerpoint (insert picture from scanner or camera). I have used this with success in the past. I have not used the scan button so I cannot advise you on this.
Hope this at least gets you going with scanning a copy of something and once you have it in these programmes you can at least print it and make some changes that you desire.
Hope this helps.
Youre right - they are a great printer!!
