Question about JVC AV-56WP74 56" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Blue screen Our tv was on today when out of nowhere the screen turned blue. we turned it off to let it cool hoping that might help but it didn't. when we turned it back on a faded picture emerged only to go completely blue again. Husband looked inside the tv to notice that when turned on again, the blue projector was fine, while the red and green quickly faded as seen before.

Re: blue screen

Convergence ic and resistors require replacement and that you need to check for cracked solder.

Do you have the input turned on that you use the xbox for? Try different inputs as well. If you are getting the menu to come up, the blue screen is telling you that you don't have a signal being run through that particular input.

Hdtv with yellow half circle on bottom of screen

Odds are real good that the cooling fluid in the blue picture tube assembly has become contaminated. Only solution is to pull blue crt and dump out old fluid and clean and reinstall new fluid. Once done a fair amount of re-alignment is required. This is not a job for a do-it-yourselfer. Most tv shops would charge in the area of $250 to $300 for this repair.

Screen fades to blue.

The Blue SCREEN setting is too high. These adjustments are located inside the TV behind the front panel. There are two screws behind covers and then a wooden panel to remove to access the adjustments. The leftmost set are for BLUE, the middle are GREEN, and the right are RED. The top row are FOCUS and the bottom are SCREEN. Focus will focus/unfocus the tube and Screen will adjust the power of that tube (there are 3 tubes, one for each color). If Screen is adjusted too high, horizontal lines will appear (my TV had red lines, but I played around with the knobs and saw that it could happen on any of the colors). Additionally, if SCREEN is set even higher than that, the tube could go so high that it turns the whole screen that color (in your case, blue). If this happens the TV will shut down, probably due to either overheating or overvolting. To fix this issue, turn the appropriate SCREEN dial down until the lines go away. In your case, you want to turn the lower left dial down. Don't turn it too far down, if you turn it more than necessary the TV can give you an AKB error (noted by the STANDBY light flashing a sequence of 5 blinks).

KF-42WE610 blue dots and blue vertical haize

Go to the Sony Web support site. If your TV is one of the models listed with the blue dot problem (there are pictures of what the screen looks like with this problem)on the site, Sony is now saying that they will cover the cost of the part and the repair. We did what I'm suggesting and are having our part put in today. Sony decided this was their responsibility for some models of their LCD big screen HD TVs in June of this year. We were contemplating an estimated repair bill of over $1000 until we found out they were taking responsibility for this problem. Good luck, I'm not a truly techy person, but hope I have pointed you in the right direction. We have been living with blue people, etc. for about a year now, feeling angry about spending so much for a TV and it going bad so quickly. Hope this spares you that. You have only so much time to take advantage of this repair offer...
