This is a workshop repair job at Kodak or a new camera.
Usually these devices are not economic to repair.

Stops taking pictures

I have the similar problem, I turn on the camera and after the lens comes out , red light blink all this time, and suddenly it powers down without retracting the lens back in.
The battery are fully charged AA 2400mah / 2650mah Duracell at 4.0 ma with load test. I was wondering if there is any circuitry problem.? Any experts in digital camera electronics please respond? Trick: To bring back the lens back in for safekeeping i trik this, i turn it on while it is reading the memory etc and after a sec or two i turn the knob to off, this way lens goes back inside.
I have read other brands also have their cameras lens sticking out and never going back inside.

It appears that pictures are being taken with the lens cap on - when that's not the case. In other words all camera indications are that the picture is "taken", but it is a black square. I'm thinking a...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help:

Is this intermittedly or constant? Do you receive a lens error?
However due to spare part shortage this model is no longer repaired. Instead KODAK offers a trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.

When using my d80 (no matter what lens is on it) it just keeps trying to focus and will not take the picture. It was fine on Sun and then Tue wham!! I can not think of doing anything to it and no one has...

Be sure the lens is firmly switched to M/A. For some reason the camera is not acquiring a subject to focus on. Have you tried a simple subject with lots of contrast, like a black something against a white background. Cameras have a tough time whenever there is too little contrast or nothing specific to focus on.

Take it to a service centre for repair ASAP.

Depends on the exact issues you are having but it sound like the shutter magnet inside the lens is causing electronic noise and this is affecting your pictures. In Australia the shutter magnet only comes as a complete lens assy and is very expensive if the camera is out of warranty.
