I have a hp laser p1005 and a mac running osx and cannot print. The printer will que up the document but will say, "Attempting to connect to host Main.local. on port 10000" It will not print. Running the printer through the Airport Extreme router.

unplug the usb from the computer. try uninstalling the printer from the control panel.
then reboot the computer and plug the usb back in so that it will reinstall.

Does it show "Printing" or "Spooling" in the job queue window?
Open the Job queue window, then highlight and cancel the print job. Send a small print job to the printer and make sure that the PC and the printer are communicating.
If the failure re-occurs, then clear the queue again and close it and restart i=the queue.
Actually you three types drivers available for hp 1500 printers.

Ok,right click on my computer > manage >divice manager >just check for yellow or red cross button and right click on that say update driver it will give you a wizzard go thruogh it, if it red cross just click on enable
Check that the correct printer is set as default. Also use File Print so that the selected printer is shown rather than using the Print button. If the test pages are being printed from the computer then the communication is working.
On the two non working computers...uninstall the printer drivers and uninstall any info about the printer reboot.reset up each indivual (the two non working ones)computer with new drivers from web.reboot and they should work.RICHARDM69
