I'm having the exact same problem.
I figured I would remove a couple screws and take a look inside to see whats-up. Nope, its snapped together. Thanks Altec Lansing - really freaking convenient. If thats how you want to assemble your **** (impossible to get into), then build it better so it doesn't break
