The tv went dark and no audio and the lamp light started flashing red. I have the Sone extented warranty, but they said it was a lamp and not covered

it could also be the lamp driver if there are 5 blinks

could also be other causes depends on the blinks you are having.

What the company said is true. The lamp is considered a consumable part of the set similar to the light bulb inside your refridgerator. The part number is: A-1085-447-A. From a Sony distributor (tritronicsinc.com) the cost is: $269.98

You should be able to locate a generic lamp for less.

There are no lamp,in LCD tv,only Liquid Crystals amitting lights Display in a form of two pcbs.These LCD crystals are not the prob.The main video backlight board is dead,that why u not getting video.
