High pitched whine

I came home one day and the power had gone off. The dishwasher was emitting a high pitched whine from the computer control box. I seperated the door halves and unplugged the control box. I called a local appliance repair shop and was told that the contol module was bad and it needed replacing. I ordered one and just replaced it. The new box does the same thing. It just has a constant high pitched scream when the power wires are hooked up. Any clue as to what is wrong?

I bought this dishwasher second hand and when we wired it up, it has the high pitched whine and the control panel won't light up. Any suggestions?

I had the GE guy repair mine. At the tune of $249.49, it was the keypad. If you can order it online, do it. It simply peels up, clean the surface, and thread the cord though the hole. Restick the new one in place and hook it up. Easy fix.

I replaced the control unit and the keypad, and it worked at first, sort of. I had the door in halves and hadn't installed the keypad yet but hooked it up to the new control unit and everything seemed to work great. Then I reassembled the dooor, adhered the keypad, and nothing - green lights but no function. I took the door partway apart - didn't disconnect the keypad, shut the latch side of the dooor, and tried re-attaching the plugs one by one. I could get the dishwasher to start up again, but now it's stopped again and I'm stuck in the high-pitched whine mode. Before, I could get the whine to stop by disconnecting the door latch wires. Now it seems the whine is associated with connection of the power plug only.

I just dropped $190 on the keypad and the control module, and it seems I'm back where I started :-(

I had the GE profile, though I don't think it's this model. I had same problem with the continuous beep-I replaced the control module AND keypad, and it's fixed

I had the GE repair guy come out this week and he told me it's because the keypad is shorted out. He didn't have a new one with him, so he's going to order it and come back in about a week to install it. He did tell me too, that they normally replace the keypad and the control panel at the same time. It's a little spendy, but hopefully I won't have any more problems.

I have a magnavox 37mf331d/37 that has developed a high pitched whine.the longer the tv is on the louder the whine.the tv is 5-6 yrs old

It's likely a capacitor associated with the power supply having gone bad.
It's obviously beyond your expertise to repair it yourself.
Find a trustworthy repair shop and take it there.

High pitched whine

The most common cause would be a defective power steering pump.

Does the high-pitch whine exist when the engine is just running? Not moving (transmission is not in gear)? Running but with transmission in neutral (coasting down hill)?

I have a newer model GE dishwasher. About a couple of weeks ago we lost power to home. When power was returned the dishwasher was making a high pitch sound and power was not returned to the front...

Hello

High pitch sound comes when the main control also known as the electronic board goes bad and needs replacement. Please try to blow air with hair dryer on the display just to check if that'll solve the problem. Hope you understand...If it does not then replacement of part is only recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Dishwasher Making Loud High Pitched Noise.

How deep do you want to get into this?It sounds like the wash pump motor bearings that are worn. You can pull the unit out flip it over and wd40 the bearings in the motor or you can replace the bearings.Try to lube them first.

Dishwasher Making Loud High Pitched Noise.

A loud high pitch whine while running the dishwasher means that there is something caught in the chopper assembly. To get to the chopper assembly you need to take the racks out and take the pump apart from the inside of the dishwasher. The chopper assembly looks like a metal grate with holes in it. And it might not even be stuck in the grate but somewhere in the pump area due to the water being pumped out, so the best idea is to take the whole thing apart and clean everywhere. However I do not recommend doing this unless you are completely certain you will remember where the screws and gaskets go, otherwise you risk damaging your pump or house from a leak or improper installation. You have been warned.
