Re: No sound from tv to surrond sound.

First, press the SURR button to see if you can get sound out of more than 2 speakers, then:
There are a few possibilities.
1)You can connect a red and white AV cable (or the red and white portion of a red, white and yellow cable) from the TV Audio OUTPUT to the "Audio In/TV" portion of the HTS (NOTE: Many TV's do not have an Audio OUTPUT).
2)You can connect a red and white AV cable (or the red and white portion of a red, white and yellow cable) from the Audio OUTPUT of your cable or satellite box to the "Audio In/TV" portion of the HTS.
Note: Using a red and white cable may not give you sound on all 5 speakers.
3)Get a digital audio or SPDIF cable and run it from the TV, Cable or Satellite Box's Digital Audio OUT to the "DIGITAL IN" of the HTS. This will give you the best sound quality. When using this (or any of the other) type of connection, press SURR until you get sound from all 5 speakers.
Also, the manual can be obtained from

No surrond sound

TV's are not sources of multichannel audio. The best you'll get is stereo analog. Get the best TV-related audio from the same source the TV gets it - in this case the Cable Box.

Can only get the dvd player to use the surrond system

This is going to be a bit tricky with this model, since either your Cable or Sat box will need a Digital Audio Out, and you will need to purchase a Digital Audio cable. If your sat box has a digital audio out, connect a digital audio cable from the sat box to the digital audio in on the back of the Samsung. Then connect a red and white AV composite cable from an available audio out on the back of the cable box to the "Aux In 2" on the back of the Samsung - this may only allow stereo sound, however.

Your absolute best bet (and the simplest connection) will depend on whether your TV has a SPDIF OUT or Digital Audio Out (they are roughly the same). If your TV has a Digital Audio out, connect a digital audio cable from the TV to the Digital Audio IN of the Samsung. Now you will get sound from any cable, sat, or any other type of box that is connected to your TV.

No sound when using the TV

1- Find the two audio out female RCA jacks on your tv. One is red one is white. Some older tvs may not have any, if so you are out of luck.
2- Purchase a stereo patch cord (male x male RCA) long enough to reach the LG's Subwoofer.
3- Connect the red and white plugs to the tv output and connect the red and white plugs to the "Aux In" female RCA jacks on the subwoofer.
4- Select stereo input for sound on the LG's user interface.

You will be able to upconvert the stereo input to various surrond modes by studying the control manual.

Component Video Connection

what you have done is you are sending a component video signal from your system to your tv and the sound i assume comes through the 5.1 surrond speakers. The DVD's you play the sound would naturally come from the 5.1 surround speakers, unless your instruct the dvd player to send the sound to the tv in which case will only be played as stereo. you will need inputs on your dav system to take sound from your tv outputs or digital box by way of red and white phono leads or a digital/optical input if you have them; so as to play the sound from cable tv or sattelite tv through your 5.1 surround speakers.
