Using mailboxes on Sony TAM-100 digital answering... (by 3 users)

I do not have the user manual any longer for this machine and the online manual does not indicate how to use the three mailboxes available. I tried using the press 1, press 2 method, but that did not direct the message to the correct mailbox. How is this done?

ApprenticeDirect your caller to press the star (*) and the number of the mailbox (1, 2 or 3 )to leave a message on.
