ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical box that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum.
I would also recommend that you remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Keep in mind how the belt is routed, this will come in handy later with you reinstall the drum and belt.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:
http://www.partselect.com/
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx
Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

Inglis dryer is squealing like a belt loose. it subsides during cycle but a burnt rubber smell is very prominent when finished

Replace the belt - it is old and worn out. The belt is made of rubber and is slipping, causing the smell and squeak. The belt heats up and becomes more flexible after the dryer runs a while; this is why the squealing stops.

Inglis clothes dryer heats up but drum doesn't

The way to visually see if the belt has broken or not is to 1) unplug the dryer. 2) Remove the lint screen on the top of the dryer. 3) take the two phillips head screws out where the lint trap is. 4) with a flat head screwdriver pop the top of the dryer up by sliding the driver inbetween the top and front of the dryer and pry upwards a little. 5) You'll now see the drum, if the belt is not around it its broken, and if it's visible try to lift it. If it taught, its good. IF THE BELT IS BROKEN OR LOOSE CONTINUE TO NEXT STEPS 6) on the left and right upper inner sides of the dryer you will find two screws, one on each side, remove these and the front should be easlily remove. 7) once off you'll be able to easily see the motor, the belts idler pulley, and everything else.

What's the correct drive belt configuration on an inglis front loading dryer?

Hi,

I think you're requesting info on how to route the drive belt, aren't you ?

If that is indeed what you're wondering, the image I've attached should help. It is the Whirlpool/Kenmore image you'll want to go by, Inglis is Whirlpool.

If not please let me know and I'll see if I can assist you further. If this does answer you're question please allow a second to rate the info I provided here.

Thank you for visiting "fixya" and good luck.
