- Thank you Mike! This is exactly what I needed. I blew right past that page. Tweezers, a good light...and if I can get these new bifocals lined up just right...
Do you have your manual? Open it to page 1-9. See motherboard layout on page 1-9. The bios /cmos jumper is to the left of the front panel pins, lower right hand corner. The MB bios jumper is marked, CLRTC. It’s just above the chassis pins. Clear cmos page 1-25. It’s pretty tight down there. Tweezers work well.
Cheers! Mike

Thanks Mike! This is EXACTLY the answer I needed! I suppose that I was in too great of a hurry and flipped past this page.

just to clarify, to clear your BIOS, there should be a 3 pin set on your board usually located some where just below your RAM. On the board will be printed something like "CLR" or "CLEAR" move the pin connector, with the power off, from its current position to the middle pin and the open pin. Wait about 15 to 20 seconds and move the connector back to the original position. You have just reset your bios to factory defaults.

my computer is a dell inspiron 531. 2 1/2 years old. it developed shut down problems 2 months ago. at first it would run for 4-5 days then shut down. I have replaced 1. Power supply. 2. Hard drive. 3. Optical drive. 4.Rewired ac line to larger gauge wire. 5. new heat sink and fan for the processor. Problem still exists. Only thing left to replace is the motherboard or processor. Does anyone have any clue? Please email me to cqk7yg@yahoo.com. Thanks
