Use a card reader instead of your camera. When the icon appears on the screen, double-click on it and select the ones you want to transfer. Transfer them to a folder you create on your desktop and from there, you can do anything you want with them.
Lower the ISO sensitivity to around 200 or 400.
That's like film speed... the lower the ISO the less sensitive it is to light.

Blown USB ports can happen. Most of the time, they still move power...like you can still charge devices through them, but the device won't be recognized. See if a hub will work.
