Re: replacement capacitor information

There is a wire jumper labeled W624. You will find a ring crack around one leg. This caused C973 (10mfd50v) to explode. It also takes out D432 (NTE519) and Q431 (NTE2416). It can also take out C432 and if C432 (47mfd25v) is bad it probably also opened R449 (8.2K SMD).

Re: replacement capacitor information

It is safe to replace the capacitor with the same ratings.. you can visualize the blown capacitor at its top portion., remove that capacitor and buy same rating written on its body.. voltage and the capacitance.. usually written as 300V and 3300mF.. when returning it, please take note on the diretion,, + and -.

The power supply regulator section circuit has to be troubleshooted. There might be some shorted component/s. It is a skilled work. You must have sound knoledge in electronics to do this work.

JVC AV-25P8-PH TV turns on (the standby mode) with the red light, but when we try to punch in the channel (using either remote or the push buttons on the television itself), the red light becomes green...

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board.

I do not think it needs replacement, rather some defective capacitors are causing this issue.
Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like ""(look for electrolytic capacitors).
After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.....

Good luck.

I have a 32" tv jvc iart and horizontal white

You are seeing vertical retrace lines. This faut is due to the vertical output section inside your TV. To rectify this fault, you must open your Tv. Just open it after unpluging it from the wall power socket. Locate the vertical output section on the printed circuit board.
It is easy to locate. You can see four wires goes from the deflection yoke; the coil fitted around the neck of the picture tube. Out of which two of them will be thick, usually red and blue coloured, and the other two will be thin. These two thin wires are for vertcal scanning. Just follow these two thin wires, and you will reach a point where these four wires are pluged onto the main circuit board, very near to the LOT. Upside down the printed circuit board, and follow the print of that two thin wires, and you will reach to the vertical output section of your Tv.
Before doing anything, just look for any loose soldering or bad solderings there. It is very difficult to find out loose solderings, as thay will be microscopic, I advice you to resolder most of the soldering points there by applying a little more solder; without making any solder short. Resolder all the pins of the vertical output IC, and see the effect.
If this does not help, replace the two or three electrolytic capacitors, at about 1000MF to 2200MFD there, with same capacity and voltage ratings. Make sure about their polarity, as electrolytic capacitors have both positive and negative terminals like torch cells. Note the polarity when resoldering them out of the board. This must solve ypur problem.
If you need anymore asistance, feel free to contact me through Fixya. OK
Wish you sucess.

I have a JVC AV-32F703 tv just replaced the vertical IC tv comes on but immedeatly goes into shut down mode by what could the problem be? Retrace lines was on top of picture before it started going into...

Chances are you should have checked some components related to that IC,namely an electrolytic capacitor. They tend to leak or short. That IC burned for a reason.

I changed capacitor C926 (1000Uf 16V) on main board. It solved the problem. I went with 1000uF 63V as it was readily's okay to go with higher voltage. It was hard to fit it on because of the larger size but it worked.
