PC won't boot

PC Chips P21G v3.1 mobo, Intel Celeron D 3.2 MHz processor, 2G PC3200/400 memory. PC worked for nearly two years in this config., except graphics card which has worked for 5 months. Suddenly the keyboard was mismapped; tried other kbs and same problem.Tried to find problem in kb set up but none found. Reinstalled kb; problem still there. Tried resetting the bios (using reset jumper), PC powered up, fans work, CD drives activate, floppy activates and HDs activate. No initial display. Monitor works on other PCs. any advice appreciated. Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the case speaker is connected to the motherboard. There are no beeps but I did notice the sound of the drives (floppy, cd rom & HD). It sound like the start up sequence repeats over and over, again and again; like it is in a reboot loop. However, the amber light on my monitor remains amber (no signal) instead of going to green.

Thanks. That is pretty much what I thought. Are there any you would recommend? I want to stay at or below $150. Thanks again.

Is the case speaker connected to the motherboard?
If it is, do you get any beep sequence? If there is no display, the power speaker output an audible beeps sequence. For example, 3 short beeps mean a problem with memory.

Keep posting here to zoom in on the solution.

Kenny, from my experience with computers, it looks that your's is singing his swan song.

PC-Chips and 2 years is just about right. This is how long they last.

If you are not affraid of rebuilding a computer, I recommend buying a new motherboard. Doesn't have to be P21G. Any mobo that supports the cpu, the memory and the graphics card will do.

What type of dual core processor can I use for my dc7600?

The motherboard for the dc7600 has an Intel LGA775 processor socket. However, not all LGA775 processors are compatible with the motherboard. For the small form factor, the following CPUs are supported: Intel Celeron D Processors:
Intel Celeron D 331 Processor (2.66-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Celeron D 336 Processor (2.80-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Celeron D 346 Processor (3.06-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB)
Intel Pentium 4 Processors with HT Technology:
Intel Pentium 4 521 Processor (2.8-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB) , Intel Pentium 4 524 Processor (3.06-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Pentium 4 541 Processor (3.2-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 620 Processor (2.8-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor (3.0-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 631 Processor (3.0-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 640 Processor (3.2-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 641 Processor (3.2-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 650 Processor (3.4-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 651 Processor (3.4-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 661 Processor (3.6-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB) or
Intel Pentium D Dual Core Processors:
Intel Pentium D 805 Dual Core Processor (2.66-GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 820 Dual Core Processor (2.8-GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 915 Dual Core Processor (2.8-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 925 Dual Core Processor (3.0-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 930 Dual Core Processor (3.0-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 940 Dual Core Processor (3.2-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 945 Dual Core Processor (3.4-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 950 Dual Core Processor (3.4-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)

Unfortunately, these are old processors and I don't see any available new. lists a couple available as refurbished. You may be better off getting a new computer with either a Intel I3 or current AMD processor.

I wish that I had better news for you.

(do not attempt to use a CPU that your motherboard doesn't support. It probably won't boot.)

Need apower supply and hard drive for my compaq presario 1103WM. how old is this unit

It must be up to 8 years old ish as it has XP installed.

17-inch flat screen CRT monitor NEW* Intel Celeron D Processor 3252.53 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 256 KB L2 cache 256 MB DDR SDRAM CD-RW (48x32x48) 40 GB hard drive 9-in-1 memory card reader 10/100Base-T networking interfaceIntegrated graphics with 64 MB shared video memory *The new Celeron D processors are more efficient than the old Celeron processors. The New 325 D benchmarks faster than the old Celeron 2.7 GHz processor.

Almost any IDE hard drive will work, up to 540Gb and any reasonable power supply should be OK. Check ebay and also google for a power supply.
Hope that helps.

I have a mainboard of model D845GVAD2------------------------AAC18931-104. It has already intall the Intel celeron processor of 1.8GHz. Now I want to upgrade my processor. So what high frequency processor...

The Intel® Desktop Board D845GVAD2 supports a single Pentium® 4 processor with a system bus frequency of 400 MHz or 533 MHz, or a single Celeron® processor with a system bus frequency of 400 MHz.

So you can install upto 3.06 GHz 533 MHz(cache memory) processor and also update the ram 2 GB 400 mhz.
Dont install Prescott processor.
Hope it will help you.

Can I upgrade Celeron -D 2.26Ghz to the same mobo ie. E219882

Intel E219882 motherboard, also know as Intel D850GB?

1) The motherboard has a Socket 423 processor socket.

This processor socket has the socket holes, while the processor has the pins. Has 423 socket holes.

The Intel Celeron D 315 uses an LGA775 processor socket.
LGA775 is also known as Socket T. Has 775 pins in the processor socket. The processor used has the socket holes. 775 of them.

Celeron D 315 spec's,

2) The Intel D850GB motherboard only supports Single Core processors. Not Dual Core like a Pentium D.
Must be an Intel single core processor, that fits in a Socket 423 processor socket.

Intel only made processors to fit the Socket 423 for about 2 years. Intel had a deal with Rambus, for memory to fit Intel's motherboards, for this period of time. The deal fell out, and Intel moved on.

The Intel D850GB motherboard Only uses RIMM memory modules, ('Stick/s') made by Rambus.
(RIMM. Rambus Inline memory Module)

Highly expensive, overrated ram memory.

851 MHz Celeron Processor

*********** board will support a max of 1GB of RAM. Your processor is an Intel at 1.8 GHz. The preceding is only true if your PC is the Emachines T1840 as you chose in the category listing of your post. Again if that is true, you can achieve the max RAM by installing a 512MB stick in each of the two memory slots.
Good luck.

PS: Gdlkn84as528 is correct in assuming that a less than 1.3GHz Intel processor would be a P3 or equivalent processor. So which is it, it can't be both ways?
