Problem for Western Digital WD Passport 250GB Portable Drive 250 GB...
The 250g wd hard drive icon disappeared from the
the 250g wd hard drive icon disappeared from the mac desktop and list of devices, without being disconnected. It is still vibrating, 1 of the 4 lights remains on,I had the geek squad at Best Buy plug it in (with my own firewire) to another mac; the hard drive showed up but the computer didn't recognize it. Now what?

If they plugged it into a WinPC, the PC won't be able to read the drive.
More then likely the SATA-to-USB card in the drive has gone bad (like mine did.)
I ended up buying a rocketfish 2.5" SATA HD enclosure kit from BestBuy... now my drive works fine.
