the f8 function is only to try and remedy boot problems. the recovery option you're getting is to restore if you have already made recovery discs. if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive you should be able to access it when you boot up. before starting your laptop press and hold 0(zero) key and power on the laptop. once it starts you should get a screen with 3 options then choose option 1 to get back to factory restore.
In most cases this is only available from the Toshiba Website through the Software update section. Because the software is Toshiba specific and will not install on a machine other than Toshiba in that series. Now, having said that, if you did not wipe out the partitions on that hard drives there is a recovery hard drive on that laptop. This is how they distribute software now. You can usually access the recovery system by pressing and holding the F10 Button right after you push the on/off switch. This will access the recovery menu and allow you to restore the system to it's original factory settings and drivers. If this option no longer works you will have to go through the Toshiba Software update section to purchase the recovery disk. Here is the place to start:
This can be an issue with the USB port, or the drivers.
Is the hard drive a Power HDD ? that means it has 2 usb chords one for power and one for data transfer? coz those might not work with laptops, also has it ever worked with the laptop ?
If this was helpful, then kindly rate me.
Try to boot the machine in safe mode by pressing F8 as the computer starts up, if will let you boot into safe mode as it sounds like there could be some bad sectors on the drive causing it to hang on boot. To check this right click on the C drive and select
"properties", then select "tools" tab, in the tools option check the
volume for errors. This can take some time to perform so please be patient.
If you can't get the machine to boot into safe mode please post back
Ok just to clear the question up... I you just installed a new HD in your laptop and have already downloaded your recovery cd that came with the pc then you are asking for the remaining drivers that you are missing... if so here is what you need to do. If you are not missing your internet driver go to www.driveragent.com this requires a yearly membership of I think 29$ This will scan your pc and give you the drivers to download. If you just installed a new HD and if you turn your computer on and get nothing this is because you did not install your recovery disk,,, if you do not have your recovery disk ONLY Toshiba can provide this and you can order it from them. I would also call Toshiba for your driver disk as well if you cannot get on the internet...
