How do i format a disc?

You can only format re-writable disks, and it is usually done with the software that is used for burning the disk. Programs like Nero Burning Rom allow you to completely wipe a disk.

Cd/dvd isnt recognized in windows xp

There are many compatibility issues still with CD/DVD formats and disk drive manufacturer's.
Check the format of the disk (CD-RW, CD+RW, etc...)
Sounds like the drive isn't recognizing the format this disk was written in. Google CD/DVD format types for a better understanding.

Problem formatting the disks

Your burner has gone south. You can try a firmware upgrade to possible correct the issue but if that does not do the trick then the burner needs to be replaced.

I purchased a pack of Memorex CD-R rrecordable 52X 700MB 80 min. discs from Staples and I was told I could use these to transfer pictures from my drive c. When I put the CD in to the drive D it asks me to...

Cd-R does not need formatting. They are ready to burn. There is probably a problem with your cdr drive.

A cd-rom drive is not a burner.

Are you sure you have a burner and not a cd-rom?

If you do have a burner, try another few disks. If it still says insert disk then your burner has crapped out.

Lg burner refuse to burn .wav format

  1. try playing the *.wav files on your computer from their location on the hard drive
  2. Make sure that your writer can burn all the other file formats by burning a disk e.g data disk, if it fails then its not a problem with wav files its the writer that require reconfiguration
  3. If it can burn the disk then burn a music audio disk with your *.wav files (music audio cd uses *.wav format)

Some CD burners will only work with specific CD's.
CD+R (most common format)
CD-R (other format)
CDRW (Re-writeable)

Check manual for correct working type of disk that works with your machine.
