My son took it upon himself to upgrade his game system from a website on the internet. now when he trys to turn his console on, the power light comes on but no screen and after 45 seconds shuts itself...

First I should ask what site he "updated" his PSP from? There are so many hack sites that claim free this or that and really can mess things up. What update did he perform? From where? Writing some things can cause a PSP to Brick. Which is in a sense a hard drive crash. Also how one downloads can as well. There are some fuse inside on the main board as well that can go bad. My gut tells me the download went bad and it bricked but I will wait to hear back on my questions.
  • Try this -
  • Remove the battery completely and let the unit power down. Now plug in the AC adapter and turn the unit on leaving the battery out. Do things function normally?
  • Try a hard boot by holding the power button down for 10 full seconds.

I was updating my sons PSP. Hasn't been used for a couple of years. It was 41% updating when my husband turned it off. Now it won't even turn on? What can I do?

You can try restting your device by performing the following;

Remove the battery from the left side of the PSP while it is still on. The unit will power down instantly. Wait 10 seconds and then replace the battery.Press both clear shoulder buttons at the top of the PSP and keep them held down while the PSP reboots. This initiates a "Recovery" down on the control pad to locate a "recovery" folder. This will contain all of your PSP content, including games, music, videos and podcasts that are saved on the device. Highlight this folder and press the "X" button to begin reinstalling your content.

When my psp is updating , the power turn off and psp doesn't turn on

Try this:
Remove the PSP battery and memory stick from the device. You will use these again so keep them close.
Insert the magic memory stick into the PSP card reader. The memory stick holds the firmware that will be flashed onto the PSP.
Insert the pandora battery and the PSP will turn on automatically. Press the "X" button twice to flash the firmware to the PSP. Press "X" again to shut down the PSP.
Reinsert the normal battery and memory stick and turn the PSP back on. Plug the PSP into its charger and go through the normal update process again by selecting "System Update" on the PSP menu.

Reset psp, once turned on doesnt work?.

Looks like you might of run an update of some sort from the UMD disc or memory card. Take the battery out and then put it back after 15 mins.

If it still doesnt work im afraid you may of bricked it by forcing shutdown on the PSP.

There are people on ebay who might be able to help if you cant get the PSP to work.

Just type 'bricked psp' into search and tell the person what happened. It shouldnt cost more than £15 to sort the PSP out.

Sony PSP - problems

There is a way to fix the problem of the games not loading and the joystick not working, the way that you fix the games not loading is that you go over the setting part of his psp and then go down to the part that says system settings select it and go down to where it says restore default settings. It will ask you do you want to restore default settings, select yes. wait a mintue put the system back on games put the game in and wait and it should work. For the joystick problem they sell the replacement joysticks at any electronic store.

Can't start..

The last CFw Update is 3.71M33-3.

What is version on your PSP? (on PSP Menu, move across to the "Settings Menu". Scroll down, select to "System Settings" > "System Information" and you should see version of your PSP.)

Here's, how to install CFw Guides. Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back a detail should you need additional information. ^_^
