Im trying to recovery my music in my hitachi tb, but usb doesnt recognize the device, help

If you PC does not see the drive (assuming the PC has all the required USB drivers), then, 1 check and or subsitute the USB cable. 2. check the power supply/wall wart for correct power. 3. check the USB plug on the PC, try a different one if equiped. 4. the USB interface card in the external case may be toast. You will need to check or sub the interface to ensure that's not the issue. 5. place the drive in a different case with a different USB interface.

I tried to format my Samsung s2 Portable hard drive from NTFS to Fat32 and now my Toshiba laptop will not read my hard drive

Be careful, don't put anything new or do any operation on your drive no matter if your Samsung drive can be read or not because it can product your files, all of your files in your drive will not be overwritten or deleted. If you still cannot use it (means it can not be read), you can try to format it again and use the data recovery software to help you to recover lost data. Here is one for you But you should pay attention, make sure you can recover lost data first, then try, just try the software, OK? God bless you.

The hard drive dropped approx. 1 and a half feet, now the computer will not reconize it?

An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.

My 1 tb WD hard drive isn't even being recognized

If the 1 tb is spinning up, which I assume it is, the new PC (assuming a Win 7 OS) should see it and mount a driver to be able to talk with it. I would double check all my connections at the drive and the PC, try different USB ports just in case one is dead.

1 TB Rock Mobile External Harddrive capacity

No. It is not that way. how it is read is as under: 1 K is 1024 bytes 1 MB is 1024 K bytes 1 GB is 1024 MB 1 TB is 1024 GB. As per books. BUT, when it comes to selling HDDs 1 TB is 1000,000,000,000 bytes. the extra 24 bytes at each lelvel have been overlooked. Thats where you loose so much of disk space.

Western Digital drive disappears

i heard that it must be installed under SATA 3 or 4 and only the c drive or system drives are to be under SATA 1 and 2. You change this in the BIOS i think.

1. Assuming you have tried different cables.
2. Assuming that you are trying different ports (different usb) on your computer or even different computers.
This eleminates your computer and isolates your drive. These are know problems with the WD drives. Sometimes you get a bad drive. It happens. WD offers full support for their drives. Esp. new ones.

This website tells you if the noise you hear is normal. Also, most of these drives are under warrenty for at least a year.
