Sounds like either a defective LCD, or a defective flex cable. The flex cable is pretty common to fail, especially if the chrome hinge pin has broken. The parts can be purchased on ebay or other sites, but without seeing the phone, its hard to determine which. I recommend taking it to your local phone repair shop for repair.
This may not be the problem with your phone, but I had the display go out on another motorola (razr) and it was the flex cable that goes from the main board to the screen. Since the ROKR doesn't have a flex cable it is less likely that is your problem but it is worth checking the cable to the LCD anyway. I know that with the RAZR, the cable is fairly loosely held in place and would be easy to knock loose if the phone was dropped. If that is not the problem, you should be able to get a display on ebay for a lot cheaper than from Motorola. here is a current auction for an LCD: http://cgi.ebay.com/For-Motorola-Z6-Rokr-Original-LCD-Display-Screen-Tools_W0QQitemZ300242976439QQihZ020QQcategoryZ20336QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem if you can't find the LCD by itself I would recommend looking for a broken phone on ebay to swap screens with.
I would personally suggest going to ebay. They carry many replacement parts for cell phones such as the Flex cable that you need, and are quite inexpensive as well. I guess figuring out how to install it is the tricky part. Good Luck!!!!
