Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: HP dv1000 cooling fan does not turn on

It is either clogged with dust or not functioning.
Here is the repair manual . You can probably fix it your self.
It is on page 162.

Re: HP dv1000 cooling fan does not turn on

Tom19511's solution worked like a charm. I have a DV1000, about 3 years old, and it was overheating and then shutting off. I used the service manual on this site to take apart the computer, all the way to taking the heatsink and fan off the computer. There was a huge dustball inside the heatsink that I vacuumed out. Obviously, it was constricting the airflow and overheating the computer. Now it works fine. Taking apart the computer was not hard; the trickiest part is taking all the screws out and remembering where they go afterwards.

If fan replace/cleaning doesn't work then do the following..
Replace hard-drive. Yes, do it and this time do not put the cover on it. Take 2 screws out from the plastic cover and screw hd without it. You have a damaged hd running.
This should resolve the problem. If not then you may have to change the battery as well.

(How in hell hp designed the hd compartment with no vents is unthinkable.)

My laptop is not even 1 yr old .After sometime(an hour or so) it gets automatically closed due to overheating problem Could you please tell me what should I do in this case

If you are not using your laptop on a flat surface, it may be obstructing the cooling vents on the bottom of the laptop. Your laptop fan may be faulty and not spinning freely, in this case replace the fan.
Check the fan and heat sink assembly andremove the dust, loosen the dust and use a can of compressed air to clear awaythe dust. A laptop fan assisted cooling pad may solve your problem.

Hi. I have a HP laptop for about 3 months and now it gives me the message " a cooling factor is not working properly" , and it shuts down 15 minutes later. what should I do? Should I go to the...

The laptop should be covered since it is only three months old. That's the good news. The less than good news, is that you may have to wait a while before you get your computer back.

I don't have the laptop in front of me, so naturally I can't diagnose the problem directly.
I would hazard an intelligent guess that the Cooling Fan inside the laptop has failed.

Components inside a computer are normally cooled by air. (High tech gamer computers may use a different type of cooling system. They may use water, or a refrigerant of some sort. { Dry Ice, Nitrogen, Freon, etc)

Two main computer components generate the most heat.
The Processor, and the graphics chipset. (Video chip, Same/same)

The Processor is the 'Brain' of the computer. It's designed to operate up to a maximum temperature, (Thermal Limit), and no higher, or damage to the Processor will result.

There is a Fail Safe feature built-in to turn the Processor off, if it becomes too hot.
(BIOS turns the Processor off)

With no cooling fan operating the Processor will overheat.

You didn't indicate what model name, and model number your HP laptop is.
This is to just show you what an average cooling fan looks like in an HP laptop,
(HP DV6 series ), and what is entailed in order to access it,

Scrolling down to Step 24, and 25 shows the top view of the cooling fan.
Step 29 shows the bottom view.

Would appreciate hearing the outcome, please reply in a Comment.

When i turned my laptop on then it showed that hp has detected a problem with cooling fan ot working properly.

This needs to be taken care of immediately. You could damage the motherboard due to insufficient cooling. You can order a replacement fan from the HP site.
You should also be able to download a PDF file of the service manual from their site.
You will need the model and service number on the bottom of your HP laptop to find the correct part and manual.

Replacing fan on dell latitude cpt lap top

Noel, it's hard to get such pictures. Do this:

Get your new fan from a source or take the laptop in with you. They will know what type fan it is. Laptop fans can be near impossible to get; hey are different and make specific. Most people will replace it for you if they have it for little change. If you already have one, you will need to say what type of laptop it is. They all open different and fans are in different posotions.
