Question about LG CRD 8400B (CRD-8400) Internal 40x CD-ROM Drive

1 Answer

Cd Reader I just wrote that I should be able to just install the new reader in the computer and it will work. Is that correct? I put in a new cd reader in my computer and then did the Windows SP6 and then the drive didn't work any more. If that happens again, what should I do? It worked before I went to Windows 2000 SP6.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Remove the cd then.
remove the cd cover then
tutn on the device without cd and look at the cd reader if there is red light. If so turn the potentiometer installed with th cd reader board a little bit in one direction and notice the light.if mire light came on put the cd and test
if not ok replace the cd reader
if the light decreased when you turned the potentiometer . Turn it on the other direction carefully untill there is more light

if there is no light from the cd reader. Unplug the cable installed in it and clean the terminals carfully with suitable cleaner then plug and test . And if still no light . Change the cd reader

When card is in camera it will show pictures but when card is placed in computer pictures won't transfer

Almost every modern computer should be able to show the pictures. But do you place the card in a correct card reader?
The card reader must be capable of reading the SD card you put in there. Sometimes the card reader has axtea software on a CD, that should be installed first. Special when the computer and or the operating system is a little old. My card readers all can read MMC and SD cards in the same slot.
You also have to look if you placed the card correct in the reader and not the wrong way around.
It should not be possible to put the card in, when it is turned the upside down, but I have seen strong people succeed with that. They also destroyed the memory card, but that is another story.

Installing to computer

Jennie, with your camera came a CD. On that CD is the software you need to install on the computer, before you can connect the camera to the computer. On the CD are also drivers, for every type of computer. If you don't have the CD, sometimes after registering the camera online you can download the software. If nothing works, you always can use an external card reader end put the memory card in that. For a card reader you (most of the time) don't need any software, because most operating systems have drivers for the card readers.

Trying to install Dynes 5 in 1 memory card reader/writer on my Mac running 10.6.4 Can I put the small disk in my laptop drive - it is a slip in slot

If you're worried, put the small CD-ROM into some other computer, and copy the entire contents to a full-size CD-recordable disk (or to a USB memory-stick).

Then, carry the CD-R (or the memory-stick) to your computer.

I cannot install MyMailList and Postage Saver software, because my computer will not read the CD

Spend $40 to purchase a new CD/DVD reader/writer, and install it.

Or, find another computer with a working CD-reader, and a USB port.
Find a USB memory-stick with about 600MB of "free" space.
On that computer, copy "everything" from the CD-ROM to a folder on the memory-stick.
Then, move the memory-stick to your computer, and install from that folder.

My cd dvd-rom can't read cd's or burn cd's

If it is working correctly, it should read both CD and DVD disks.

If you have a "combo" drive (DVD-reader and CD reader/writer), it should burn CD disks.

If it is not working correctly, spend $40 to buy a replacement CD/DVD reader/writer.

My computer does not recognize my cd's, only recognizes memory sticks, cannot download pc tutor learn windos vista or any other cd's.

first go to my computer see if drive shows up…
second (figuring it didn’t) go to control panel -> System -> hardware(tab) -> device manager
third check to see if little (!) is on the tiny pic of cd-rom drive if so you have a driver problem and need to reload it off your system restore disk or windows disk (do this by right-clicking on cd-rom, -> properties
and click roll-back driver first, when that fails click re-install driver and do that…
fourth after doing that and restarting, and the comp STILL fails to see it, open up comp. take plugs out the back of cd-rom and look at them (shouldn’t be dusty on inside, make sure no burn marks on power cord plug-in) then plug back in snuggly… restart again and see if that works… if not…
fifth…. go to comp store and buy cd-rom for >$20 (if that much)
best-buy, walmart, online at tiger direct, etc.

Install Xp From Dos

If XP will not install from the CD or if you have a new drive with no operating system onit yet try these:

Install Windows XP from the hard drive with Windows 98 already installed:

Boot Windows 98
Insert the XP CD into your CD reader
Explore Windows XP through My Computer
Copy i386 folder to C:\
Go into C:\i386 folder and double click on winnt32.exe to launch the setup from the hard drive

Install Windows XP from DOS (ie. no OS on a new hard drive):

Boot with a Windows 98 Start Up disk
Insert the Windows 98 CD into the CD reader
Run smartdrv.exe from the Win98 directory on the windows 98 CD (file caching)
Type cd.. to back up to the root directory
Insert Windows XP CD into the CD reader
Copy the i386 folder to C:\
Go into C:\i386 folder on C: and type winnt.exe to launch the setup from the hard drive.
