SOURCE: GE side by Side Fridge

froggy, First check the back panel of the freezer section and see if you have a big frost build up. If so, you probably have a defrost problem, heaters more than likely. If there is no frost build-up check to see if the fan in the freezer (evaporator fan) is running. If that's ok, next would be the automatic damper. Have someone unplug the refer. Open the refer door and listen for the damper door to open when someone plugs the refer back in. If thats operational, next would be the thermistors, you would have to ohm them out to see if they are in range. Seldom is this the problem. Check these things out and get back on what you find. SOURCE: Refrigerator Not Making Ice, Frost in Freezer and Refrigerator Not Cold

It has a defrost problem.  Most likely cause would be the defrost thermostat which clips onto the evaporator behind the back panel in the freezer.  Next most common would be the defrost timer.  Third would be the defrost heater.  Let me know if you want to try to test these parts.  If so I will need the entire model # from the sticker in the fridge or on older models on a plate at the bottom front below the door.

First pull out the ice bucket and close the door.  Set for cubed ice.  Press the button for ice to come out and listen for a loud clunk noise.  That is the sound of the solenoid.  You can open the door, hold the light switch and press the button and watch for the solenoid moving up and down.  Solenoid is at the back of the freezer in a little square opening where the rod on the ice bucket goes into.  If that solenoid is moving ok then put the bucket back in while the solenoid is in the down position and cubes should work.  If solenoid is not working then it will need to be replaced.  Let me know what you find.

SOURCE: ice in the bottom of frigidaire side by side frost proof freezer

take all the bottom shelves and baskets out of the freezer. look at the back wall of the freezer. youll see a block of ice in a metal pan looking part at the bottom of the rear panel. there is a hole in the bottom of that pan. thats the defrost drain. its clogged. use a hair dryer to get all the ice out then use hot water to flush out the drain hole.

Hi, My Bosch Model B20CS50 SNI/01 side by side

It sounds like the fridge is in need of a regas, but that seems unlikely after only three years, although not impossible. An indication of that would be if the compressor could be heard to be running all the time. If it cuts out after running only a short time it could be the thermostat that has gone faulty.

Frost building up inside freezer.

Hi: Make sure your vents are not blocked by too much product in the freezer. When you changed the heater did you take a hair dryer to the back to make sure the initial blockage of frost and ice was removed as that will still block the air flow to the referigator, and cause frost to build? Also if the frost isn't in the back of the freezer but on the food it means there is a bad door seal. Usually the frost will look like snow flakes. The timers are on a circuit board now. And expensive. Ge makes an excellent refrigerator, but the parts are high in price. I hoped this helped. Jeff

Layer of frost on the bottom surface of ice maker

during periods of high humidity and or high use, it is not unusual to notice frost on surfaces in the freezer. the ICM is susceptible due to it being metal and having warm(compared to freezer temp) water in it. make sure the doors ar closed tight and nothing is stuck in the gasket area.

Not making Ice

Best thing to do is make sure the paddle is free to move and not covered in frost. and if that doesn't work. Replace the Icemaker and you will be good to go.

Freezer is producing"snow" and freezer burning everything

AFTER A DEFROST,HAVE A GOOD LOOK AT THE DOOR RUBBER. IT MUST BE 100% SEALED FOR A FREEZER. (SHOULD ALSO HEAR A SLIGHT VACUME WHEN DOOR IS SHUT WHEN UP NTO TEMP).ALSO MAKE SURE MOTOR IS SWITCHING OFF AT +/- 20C (TEMP).IF ALLOWED TO RUN CONTINUOUSLY TEMP WILL PULL DOWN TO CREATE EXCESS FROST.
