Display area and clock will not re-set on Electric Range

Following a power outage, the display (clock, timer, etc.) stopped working. When the power returned, the digital display area is scrambled. I have tried to set the clock as normal and also unplugged the range but nothing has worked.

Can someone guide me?

Sounds to me from the information you provided that the auto timer is set...when the auto timer gets set you are generally unable to use the oven. If the auto timer is not set then you are looking at a problem with the Electronic oven any error codes show up f1 - f2 - f3 and so on?

Whirlpool electric range won't work

We read on another site that sometimes an electical surge messes something up and that if you unplug the range for a few minutes it will reset. So we unplugged our range and when we plugged it in again it worked fine.

PF means power failure.
For short outages the clock may still have correct time
(there is a battery backup for that), but the PF will
be displayed. Setting the clock will clear the PF

Press 'clock set-start' button, (under clock display)
enter time with numeric keypad,
press 'start' button. (to right of clock)

No power

I have the same model. After a recent power outage, the display completely lit then went blank. Turnign on one of the elemetns would pwoer up the display (clock). turning off the element would turn OFF the display. I pulled out the stove and reseated the power plug. I also reset the 50a breaker in the basement for 5 mins. When I put everything back in place, it worked. I'm not sure if this is coincidence or not. I'm guessing it's short term and I'll see the problem again, but for now... I had sticker shock when I looked at the price of new repalcements. I don't expect problems with a 4 year old appliance.

Oven display won't work

rmedrano, Try pressing and holding the stop-time and cancel pads together for 5 seconds, see if it comes back to life. If not, try the cancel and clock keypads together for 3 seconds. First is the control lock-out funtion and the second is the display blank mode. If these fail to work, you are going to have to test for power at the board. The clock (ERC) has a 3 year warranty incase you have to call for service. back.
