The G4 PowerPC is not an Intel chip. The DVD you are trying to install is possibly for Windows / Intel chip motherboards, not PowerPC.

That said, the are tiny jumpers / connectors on the back of the DVD. If you are attaching the DVD to a cable that also has a hard drive attached, you probably need to move the jumper to the SL or slave position CS, or Cable Select does not work on a lot of older systems.

Most DVD's either stamp on the metal housing what the different jumper positions are, or else you will need to look at the instructions or find a PDF of the manual online.

Well you will have to look for software made for the PowerPC architecture and not for x86 systems. Look for universal binary in the software as this shows that it will work on PowerPC architecture.As for the operating system OS 10.5 Leopard was the final version for PowerPC based systems.
