Problem for Lexmark X5495 Printer

Lexmark X5495 printer constantly saying cover open

lexmark X5495 printer display constantly saying cover open when it is closed. Have tried all of the usual things like unplugging and resetting and following all of the troubleshooting tips contained in the manual. Can anyone help?
