Question about AT&T 1717 Digital Answering Machine
I hooked up a new phone and now my At&t 1717 answering machine shows two horizontal lines in the display window and is unresponsive to any button pressing, including all procedures in the manual. The phone can still be used when the machine is hooked up, but the machine itself does nothing. I even tried to hook the machine back up to another phone, the same model I replaced before and had the same problem. New phone is V-Tech T-2326 old one was a Uniden EXP 970
There is no two horizontal lines error description in user manual.
Based on my experience, I think, maybe it is related to parrellel phone dectection. ATT 1717 already think, the system is busy or in use. The line voltage is too low when you hook up other phone.
Your house phone line maybe far from switch (3km to 5km).
