Re: power button problem
Well since you opened the case on the laptop, I'm almost sure the manufacturer is not going to honor the warranty if there is one. Your best bet is to try someone else after getting an estimate. I have had good service and prices with these guys at: http://www.generalsystemsconsulting.com

Unplug the power, remove the battery and then hold the power button for
30 to 60 seconds. Then reattach the power and attempt a boot. It worked
for me! Just shutdown, put the battery back in you're good to go.
Worked for me so definitely worth a try.
i would assume somebody has to open the Laptop and replace the powerbutton. If you want to pay to have somebody do it for you there is a third partyAcer Repair Service. However, if you want to do it yourself, the part is
available on ebay. Here's an Acer Repair guide. Maybe a tech savy friend can do it for you.
Try check the power cable to for connection, Please sure that the cable transformer is not busted. If ever the cable is good then, something wrong with input power of the laptop, guess that the fuse blown. please open an check the power line from input to all the connection inside. If affraid to do so, then you can contact your vendor, im sure they have a tech to fix your problem. If not then i am ausre you that the know the service center of your laptop. Kindly verify your manual, i guess the toll free is listed there.
laptops are very sensitive to electrostatic, damages, it is not advicesable for the ordinary people to open it for technical repair.. it needs skilled person to do this. this problem is just around switch button, it might need to clean or what they called dusting.. it is prefer to bring in a technician for repair.
