The washer has been working perfectly since we bought it 6 years ago. I opened the lid to drop in another towel just after it finished filling. The agitation had already begun. When I closed the lid again nothing happened. Now there is absolutly no life at all...almost like a fuse or sensor is blown or something... suggestions?
I took the back off, but there were a lot more wires than I was expecting, so I didn't want to just start replacing things unitl it was sorted out...

the maytag atalntis is a great machine but often falls victim to the lid switch problem
try pushing in the lid switch, right in the middle on top of the lid
you will se a lil plunger, push it in
