Problem for Dell Dimension 9200 PC Desktop
I cannot get MS Vista 32 Home Premium to reinstall
I cannot get MS Vista 32 Home Premium to reinstall on a Dell Dimenson 9200. It hangs on the second reboot - screen goes blank and monitor goes to hibernate along with pc after microsoft green bar. I have tried using and disabling various RAID configs - installing the Intel Matrix Manager Drivers everything - Help!

- No reinstalling from scratch two new drives - it gets through the Vista setup - and on the second rebootsSo far I have tried RAID0, RAID1 and no RAID also build two partitions in Windows one 20GB and one 400GB - as told by multiple people to do.
Still Vista fails on the second boot up - basically fails after loading up - Windows green bar then black screen and everything stops

- Sorry mate already tried that - to be precise the things I have done:* removed all additional PCI peripherals - tv card, additional USB slots, Firewire etc
* removed by other HDD's and BlueRAY
* Tried doing an installation using Intel Matrix Manager RAID1 - with full partition (done in Vista setup)
* Tried doing the same with RAID0 and full partition
* Tried doing the above without RAID just one HDD
* RAID0 with two partitions (20Gb and remaining 400GB)
With all of the above I have loaded the latest Intel matrix manager driver in Vista Setup

- Ah well I'm begining to give up here tried some new Ram and reducing to 1gb - moving slots the lot - RAM test is all fine - also now tried band new HDD - plus the Motherboard is also new - which I have flash upgraded to the latest Dell verLoving Vista

Are you trying to reinstall in windows? Insert the cd and press a key when asked, format the hard drive of the computer (do a custom install) and then proceed.
if it hangs, reset and let it try again on its own. Don't start from the CD, let it start up on its own.
Format the drive into one big partition and try the setup again.
I don't know what else to say, I had the same problem with windows 7 on my own computer, it just went blank after setup, well I had xp for a while and tryed windows 7 again yesterday, this time it worked, without any internal change in the computer. go figure..

- I used to support the 20GB os partition idea. Experience has got me to use one big partition instead.Format the drive into one big partition and try the setup again.

- How much ram do you have on that computer? remove one or two of your memory modules and leave just one in place. You could also run memtest on the ram.Oct 17, 2009
