Re: No Disc

It's either not spining the disc or the laser went out on it.

I purchased a toshiba portable dvd player and the disc is not spinning therefore reads no valid disc. I have put in a few discs still same reading? Any suggestions?

The Sled Motor is defective. this is the motor, whic spins the disc as it has been loaded properly. If the loader mechanism loads the disc properly into place and if the catch up magnet catches the disc in place, and still the dis do not spins, replace the sled motor. OK.

Sony DVD player reads no disc after inserting disc?

Its due to faulty Laser Lens/head. Try cleaning it by cleaning CD. If still the problem persists, contact near by service center.

When a disc is loaded, it reads "no disc".

Okay, so I had this problem a few days ago and started watching movies on my X-box 360. Then my X-Box came up with the same error as my DVD player. After reading countless reviews and e-mailing Samsung, I read somewhere that someone had pummeled their X-Box until it adjusted the laser back.

So, I pummeled my DVD and X-Box into oblivion and oddly enough both of them are working. Don't go crazy smacking it but give it some sturdy hits right above the CD tray as you are putting CD's in and opening the tray. Worked for me and hope it helps...

Disc read error

Could be one of several things:
  1. Disc not spinning due to bad motor or electronics.
  2. Laser not reading dues to dirty lens. Try cleaning it gently with a moistened Q-Tip.
  3. Laser assembly defective.
  4. Laser assembly not sliding on slide rail due to either bad lubrication, bad slide motor, or bad electronics.
Hope that helps....

"No Disc"

"No Disc" also means "I can't read the Disc". The laser must be able to read the disc or you'll get that. There are several reasons:

Bad or noncompatible Disc: Some units won't play certain types of recorded discs. Try a rental or bought DVD.

Dirty laser lens: Either try a cleaning disc, or GENTLY clean the lens with a moistened Q-Tip.

Defective components like laser, spin motor, tracking motor, etc. Usually requires professional servicing.

Hope that helps...

RE: Problem with SAMSUNG DVD-R135

If I understand correctly It would play DVD-R just fine & then it was no longer able to read them. If this is the case, are you using the same brand of DVD-R discs? Some read better than others Try using Imation they seem to read in alomost anything. If you still have problems I would suggest opening the unit & cleaning the lens with a cotton swab lightly soaked with rubbing alcohol. Especially if it has been used in an enviroment wich is dusty or the unit has been smoked around. If it worked correctly in the first place I would assume a firmware update would not fix the problem. It is harder for the drive to read a burned disc than a pressed disc so that is why I recomend cleaning the lens. It has always worked for me.

If it still will not work then I would say that the laser pickup is failling, If thats the case in time it will no longer read retail DVD's

I put the disc in the player ithen tries to play then it says disc not valid .

Same here!!! We've only used it maybe 8 or 9 times. And it's been worthless for the past month because of it. It reads everything "no valid disk" and nothing will work. And I tried e-mailing customer support several times, with no luck.
