SOURCE: Hooking laptop to tv says invalid format on my

After it is all hooked up. You must go to main computer screen, then right-click on main windows screen,
You will see box #1 and box#2
Take the #2 box, click and hold mouse button and drag to the Left Side of #1 and let go of mouse. Get it as closely matched up to the #1 box without crisscrossing them. Just set it directly next to the box.
Then click enable this monitor and/or apply button.
Then ok,
Now your monitiors should all automatically connect and turn on.

I have a bunker hill item 62463 dvr security system and all i get on my T.V is invalid Format it will do nothing else

You need to use the TV remote, and change the input to video, or DVR ...or something. Run through the various input channels, and you will find it. Invalid format is like if my TV is set to RGB/PC input, but the screen has timed out and is in sleep mode (no display) ...it puts invalid format on the screen. Or if you go to straight TV instead the channel that's connected to the box, same thing. You have to have the right input selected. You usually need the remote for it.

Vizio vt420m invalid format when trying to view netflix

The TV can't read the format that the data is in, it is a kind of code, your tv can decipher it.

"Invalid Format" message

Hello,

This should help you. I think Chris Duckworth said it best. "sounds to me like your refresh rates or resolution may be set too high on the XP machine."

Go to this website to get the rest about setting up your tv as a monitor. Type invalid in the word search to get to the relevant section.

Connecting laptop to lcd

You may need to use the S-video cable for video. Make sure video mirroring is disabled on the powerbook. Also, make the external monitor the primary display by dragging the menu bar to it in Displays preferences (Mac OS X) or the Monitors control panel (Mac OS 8 and 9).

Invalid format message when trying to use the RGB(PC) port

Honestly, that sounds like one of two things happened. Either the resolution of your computer video card changed or (I'm not sure with your specific TV) the TV's resolution changed.
If through the TV menus you can adjust PC resolution, I would try changing the resolutions. In the LG 47LB5DF TV, press Menu, then go to Picture, then go down to Screen. On the screen menu, you will see Resolution, Position, Size, Phase, and Reset. First try adjusting the Resolution to some of the options you see. If that doesn't work, try to reset the screen settings.
If adjusting those settings on your TV does not help, then you will have to change the resolution through the computer. Try connecting a monitor to the computer. If you get a picture through the monitor, on the desktop right click and select Properties. If using XP go to the setting tab, if using Vista/7, select Display Settings. Lower the resolution to something you think the TV will be able to handle, then connect the PC to the TV again. If you are using an HDMI connection to the TV, you may have to turn off the computer, connect the cable, then turn the computer back on with the TV on the correct input.
If the monitor doesn't show the picture or if you don't have another monitor, you can try adjusting the picture in safe mode, by pressing F8 after you press the power button, before you see the Windows loading screen. Press if multiple times if necessary. You should see a screen that gives you a few startup options. Select Safe Mode. After Windows boots up, you should still see the screen as the resolution would have been reduced. From there try changing your display settings.
Hopefully that info has helped. I noticed that you asked this question 2yrs ago, so I hope you have already figured out how to fix your problem. I simply wished to post this in case it would help you or anyone else had a similar problem. Good luck and take care.

Invalid format when conected to laptop

Go into your control panel. Select display. There will be a picture showing 2 screens. Select the 2nd screen, and lower resolution to it's minimum. Apply and test. Slowly increase till you find what your happiest with. Worked for me using a ASUS laptop and LG60'plasma.
