Let's see if this things work..

First open the internet explorer browser. On the Address bar, type

The site will ask you for username and password. The default username is admin and password is 1234.

The edimax page will appear, click the quick setup wizard.
just follow the instructions. The site will ask of your broadband type; click the PPPoE x DSL and fill up the required information.

Type your Username, Password, and Service Name and other info.

That's It!

Hope this one helps you...

Monterez is correct in his solution, with one exception, I have seen some routers that at the logon, the username field is left blank and the password used is "admin" To be certain of the IP of the router look on the bottom of the router or in the owners manual. A little extra information all ways help. BPCS

Your router internet settings should depend on your ISP connection type. If you are on DSL, either your setting is PPPoE or just obtain IP automatically. If you have a username and password from ISP, select PPPoE and specify your username and pw. Check on the internet/WAN status if it says "Connected" and if it has Internet IP address.

Your modem should be plugged in to the internet port of the router while both your computers should be on plugged in to the LAN ports (numbered ports).

You may contact your router manufacturer for step by step assistance on the router setup. They should be able to restore your connection.

Dhcp disabled

I'm not too sure how you are trying to access the router (wired or wireless) or what operating system you are using, but you will need to manually set your IP address (through Network Properties) on the computer to (for example) with subnet mask of
If you also want internet access you will need to set the Gateway and DNS to

Once that is set you will be able to try bring the page again and configure the router from there.

Once you configure the router (i assume you want to turn on DHCP again) you can set your computer back to DHCP assigned IP and DNS.

PPPoE over Edimax BR-6104K without a modem

I am not sure if I understand you well.

You say:
My Internet is a PPPoE broadband connection but I don't have a modem installed.

What do you mean ?
You have a Broadband/ADSL modem, but you didn't install any software for it ?
(It is probably not necessary.)

So, I assume you do have a modem. You connect your modem to the wall outlet with a telephone cable.
Then then modem is connected with LAN cable to one of your PC with two NICs, you make Internet Connection Sharing, and ten from the second NIC of that PC, you connect (again) with LAN cable, your second PC.

If it is an ADSL or Cable modem connected with LAN cable, please follow this steps.

First RESET your Edimax router and disconnect all LAN cables if connected.

Connect your PC (the one with one NIC) to one of the 4 LAN ports of your Router wit a LAN cable.

Open My Network Places and then View network connections, or go to Control Panel and open Network Connections.

Right-Click on your LAN adapter and choose Properties, then double-click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

Set to 'Obtain IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server addres automatically' (click OK). Now you are back to the previous window. Click and check (if it is not) 'Show icon notification when connected' and once again click OK.

After a fiew seconds you should get (near to the clock in the the right bottom of your desktop), a Network icon and a baloon message that your NIC is connected.

Right-click on the network icon and click STATUS, a window will open
and then click on SUPPORT tab.
You should see:
IP Addres:
Subnet Mask:
Default Gateway:

Open your browser and type

Now login as:
admin (default)
and password is: 1234 (default)

Click on GENERAL SETUP on Top-Left, and then on WAN (on the right side) and choose
Click on 'More configuration'
Type your User Name and Password you have from your ISP.

Now Click on APLY, and again APLY !

The Router will restart in 30 Sec, and your NIC will reconnect.

Now connect your Modem to a WAN port of your Router with LAN cable. (***)

if you've typed your User Name and Password correctly in PPPoE fields,
if everything is OK with the service from your provider,

you should now be on Internet.

If not, then please check your User Name and Password with your Internet Service Provider, and ask them if they can see your router.

Now, get to the PC with two NICs.

Go to Control Pannel, and go to Network Connections.
Right-click on one of your NICs and click 'Disable'.
Check the other NIC if 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' settings are set to Obtain IP addres and DNS - Automatically, and 'Show icon notification when connected' and once again click OK.

Connect the (enabled) NIC with LAN cable to another port of your router.

The second PC should be on Internet, too.

If you (somehow) realy don't have a modem, but you have a cable only, follow the above instructions to the point (***) and connect the cable to the WAN port of your router.

That's it!

How to config my edimax 6104k router???

1You can run the setup CD or manually configure it using the user interface of the router.
2.Since that is a router all devices that will be wired to it should automatically get an IP address from it.
3.Since they will be connected to the router you just need to enable file sharing on each computer.

PPPoE over Edimax BR-6104K without a modem

Actually in short  "you NEED A MODEM;"
In order to connect your router you need to connect a modem in "bridge mode'( bridge mode is nothing but a configuration on the modem)..

this is a picture of  rear side of a  router,,, you have to connect the modem into the wan port of the router (above),, and in port number 1,2,3,4 you can connect your computers,
