Converting DVD player (Sony RDR-VX420) to an all region mode

My DVD player (Sony RDR VX420) currently only plays region 2 DVDs and I want to make it region free. How can I do this.
I have heard that it can't be done for Sony via the set remote control unit and I will have to buy a special remote device to unlock it but when I have visited these sites my model is not one that is on their list.
Has anyone been successful in converting this model to region free or can anyone recommend a website who may help

This would probably explain why no one has this model on their list of hack solutions. However, how hard have these experts who put together these devices tried? Are they still continuing to try to solve the problem? How long would you estimate they may take to find a solution?

Although i have had disappointing news on the possibility of making my DVD player (Sony RDR-VX420) region free, I am still eager to hear from other experts on whether it has been or can in the near future be done.
Anyone out there got positive feedback for me???

Thanks for your comments. Am I correct in thinking this is a solution for by-passing the software on the DVD so that the region coded on the DVD is ignored? In other words would I pre-load this commercial software on my PC, then play my DVD in the PC drive to de-regionize the DVD disc? Or....would I use the commercial software in the disc drive of the DVD player and hope that it de-regionizes the hardware!!! - seems unlikely

Thanks for your thoughts. If a solution to de-regionizing the VX series of Sony players is not possible at this time would an alternative solution be to copy the DVD so that the region code is omitted on the copy? I have no idea how to do this but in theory could this be done and would it be relatively simple to the DIY man like myself?

This programme worked a treat, so maany thanks for pointing me towards it. At last I can now play my DVD on the Sony player in the comfort of my lounge rather than on my computer in the study. Thanks again and Happy New Year.
PS if you do come across a solution to the decoding of the DVD player I will still be interested to hear about it.

I mean the software has nothing to do with the problem.

The fact that there are no hacks (no codes from the remote/no chips/no special chipped remotes) at all for the VX series probably means that no one has found a way to hack it yet. This could be due to lack of demand, they are working on it or there is just simply no way. I will look up on this further...

Yup, you can backup your DVD's without the region code. It''s pretty easy and just requires the right software.

As long as the signal is sent through the rca plugs( the yellow, white, and red plugs). Then yes you can.
But there may be a prevention program that may prevent this.
