Re: vcr

Are you playing the movie on the DVD or the VCR?
Why is the DVD plugged into the outputs instead of the VCD inputs?

Black and white only when playing a DVD or VHS hooked up to my Sony Bravia 32" LCD TV.

What type of connections are you using?

If you are using coax cable check to make sure that the TV is on the proper channel that the DVD/VCR is switched to i.e. 3 or 4.

If you are using Componant video (red, green, blue, and red, white) verify that the green is plugged in all the way on both the TV and DVD/VCR and try connecting it to a different Componant input on the TV.

Note: the TV may be YCbCr, and DVD/VCR YPbPr or vice versa these two types usually are not compatible with each other. YCbCr is a digital signal and YPbPr is an analog signal.

If you are using A/V video cables or (yellow, red, white) check the DVD/VCR video setting to see if it is in progressive scan mode, as this can cause a problem with some TV sets that are not compatible.

How to connect flat screen t.v to vcr

Easiest way is to connect the TV & VCR using a Scart connector. The VCR should automatically switch over when play is selected. To go over to the VCR channel then select AV1 on the TV input select. ( This may be named different depending what make of TV you have eg. AUX 1)

Can only get DVD audio when hooking it up to Goldstar VCR...

The DVD must be connected with the RCA jacks-plugs [usually black & red] to the INPUT of the VCR, not to the RF connector. You must press the VCR\TV button to VCR so that the VCR takes control. When you place a DVD movie or AUDIO program it could be copied to the VCR. or played through the VCR.
