Remove the SD memory card and you see there is a small locking switch on the card which is used to protect your data. Slide the switch away from the locked position. If already unlocked then slide it fully to locked and then firmly back again.
If this does not work then you must try another SD card (2GB maximum on your camera).

Camera will not switch off; before that kept bring up black screen with E18 in bottom lefthand corner. Now it will not switch off and is on permanently no matter which mode you switch it too.
