Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Adding WD-40 Will adding a little bit of wd-50 to the camera zoom swivel head affect the camera? I probably should have sprayed it on a napkin and wiped it but I sprayed it directly on. But not much at all. But my camera has completely stopped working and its stuck with the zoom out and everything. But it might also be a battery problem since I dont have my battery charger and dont know if the camera died but I dont think it would die with the lens still exposed. I have a Sone DSC-W50. Please help

Gears hang up alot or the lens was banged while out make the lens stay out.. a tiny motor that drives these gears might be bad,
might be a low battery, sometimes other errors make the camera just shut down with lens sticking out, I used baby oil once to free a sticking lense mech but only like 1/8 of a drop.
your problem doesnt sound good and i think you added more.

I used WD-40 just once. How can I know if I damaged it completely?

WD-40 probably hasn't killed it, most of it will evaporate in time. It can cause the shredder to get gummed up with little paper particles so you might need to clean it out with some compressed air. I wouldn't use any sprays on a shredder unless Fellowes recommends it.

Rear door lock wont open

Before buying a new actuator. Spray some wd-40 down in there and play around with it a little bit. My 98 Durango was the same way. I sprayed wd-40 inside the lock and then up underneath and just played around with it for 5 minutes and it finally broke free and works fine. If that doesn't work, take the door panel off ( a job that can be easy or hard depending on the vehicle) and spray some more wd 40 in there and play around with it. If that doesn't work you might just have to replace it.

What would cause a pressure washer to cut off after you pull the handle to get the water started

We used power washers for years

When you pull the trigger, the engine is supposed to accelerate because the back-pressure on the pump is released.

The back-pressure is why you're supposed to keep the gun trigger open when starting the engine. It sounds like you're starting the engine with no water passing through the gun.

Inspect the exhaust port >> if exhaust is clogged with carbon or dirt, then the engine will not run at high speed.

The problem may also be cause by a rusted choke lever. If you notice when a small engine accelerates, the choke lever moves up as the carburetor demands more gas.

Start the engine with water passing through the gun >>> move the choke lever a little bit at a time and see what happens. Keep water going out of the gun. When the surfaces are cool, spray WD-40 on the lever and see if you can free it up. WD-40 is extremely flammable.

If your engine will not fire at all by starting with water passing through the gun, then your gas supply might be limited or your carburetor gummed up. Pull off the rubber gas line that connects to the carburetor and see if gas flows.

Next, pull off the air filter and see if the machine runs good without air filter. You may have clogged air filter.

While the carburetor is exposed, spray WD-40 into carburetor. See if you can get engine up to full throttle while spraying WD-40 into carburetor. Keep spraying the WD-40. Keep the water flowing out of the gun.

If the engine throttles up all the way on WD-40 but won't run without it, then your carburetor is probably gummed up.

Our old power washer won't run with the choke set at full throttle. We just got into the habit of leaving the choke alone. We'd pull off the air filter and spray WD-40 into the carburetor so the engine would spark healthy without messing with the choke at all. And we kept the choke about 2/3 open all the time.

Exhaust front pipe nuts rusted on

Try using a size 10 metric thin walled socket drive to fit nut with a little force. Use plenty of WD-40, soak the nut and stud. Try to turn nut for 1/8 turn forward, spray WD-40 then turn bolt back until it feels that it is stuck, turn nut 1/2 turn forward, spray WD-40 and try again to unbolt, everytime it feels it is stuck move nut forward, spray WD-40 then try again to unbolt. It is a slow process as it to prevent stripping the rusted nut and stud. Have fun.

The lens is jammed.
This is a result of damage to the gear in the motor asssembly.
The gear teeth have been broken off & as a result the gears that drive the opening& closing of the barrel dont mesh together resulting in the jam and your 4 beeps!!

Zoom error too

if you spill any thing, like a soft drink, tea, coffee, etc. anywhere around the camera, when the lens barrel is open, it will cause it to stick when it is closed. so when it dries, you are stuck. put fresh batteries in, and with a rubber mallet, lightly tap on the face of the lens, when the camera is powering-up. do not hit it hard. after two taps, my camera lens opened up. you can clean the barrel with some wd-40, with a q-tip swab. use very sparingly. and next time, be very careful where you lay-down your camera. you never know......
