Does nor read discs

the psp has certain conditions that needs to be met before it can read discs, for example, the region code of the disc must match that of your can check the region code on the pack of the disc you are trying to play and check the region code of your psp on the carton or better still, read the manual throuroughly to know the discs which are supported..hope this was helpful to you?

Psp can not read disc

Make sure the disc (USB) is clean. Dirty and/or damaged discs can be unreadable.

If this is not the problem, your PSP isn't working right. Either get someone to repair it or return it for a new one.

PSP can't read UMD movies

check first that you are using version 3.71 which i image you are if you bought in asia ( main menu system information)
regardles of wheter you are on this version or not i'm damm sure is not a sony release of the firmware you bough in asia :-)

shut down PSP hold power button 4 - 10 seconds or until light goes out.

restart PSP holding down R button to access recovery mode.
go to configuration,
check fake regioon currently disabled. and free umd region currently dissabled ( use x button to enter sub menus and toggle possible options)

Where is the UMD?

UMD is Universal Media Disc, its a small disc are used for PSP.  press the "eject" button on the top to open the disc tray. Usually the problem its not from the UMD, but from the console.

The first check the version you are running on psp, >> Go to the PSP Menu and move across to the "Settings Menu". Scroll down, select to "System Settings" >> "System Information" and you should see version of your PSP. If the UMD has a high version than ur console, u need to update ur psp.

plz visit my blog, for psp update guide.

Menu of the psp

Try a different disk? I've found that sometimes when you turn on the psp and you're in the game menu of the PSP menu, the UMD won't be there, but if you go over to music or something, and go back to game, it will have returned.
