Question about Hitachi 32UDX10S 32" TV

1 Answer

Long power up time, wavy "static" lines, and red/orange problems

Takes several minutes to come on after power button is pressed. Intermittent discoloration red/greens across middle half. It varies according to picture content. Cartoons and large solid red/oranges (AT&T commercials) across screen cause the most problems. Wavy lines that get better/worse/change when cable is moved behind TV set.

It's a hand-me-down set, and I could even cope with the long warm-up, but the colors and static lines are kind of bothersome.

The cables and connectors are firm. I think it could be a loose connection inside the set.

Hi, I have the same proble with my Phillips hand-me-down TV. It takes a long time 'warming up' with static for about 2 minutes before picture. Picture occasionally stripy and distorted, particularly when blocks of light colors/white are on screen. Constant stripy band across top. Any help would be great. I'm assuming the problem is within the set as external connections seem OK.

Part of it sounds like your coax cable is not connecting properly. pull it out and make sure the pin at both ends of the coax cable is straight if bent replace coax cable.

Monitor intermittent power problems. Horizontal green flickering lines

You have to check the ESR in tha caps in power supply with esr meter.
If you dont have one just replace all capacitors in the power section(there are severals of them)This is the simptom of low esr in the capacitors.
Return the monitor in factory settings.

It is possible you have a intermittent power on/off button that is not working properly, remove main battery to see if that will help, if not! unplug power supply from laptop and remove main battery, next press and hold power for 2 minutes to get rid of any residual voltage, now put everything back together and power up.

My Toshiba 50H82 television takes about 30 minutes to clear up and during that process, it shakes. It becomes clear but still has wavy lines at the top of the screen which is about 6 inches.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

PS3 Freezes On The Wavy Lines

I had the same problem.

Whilst the machine is turned on, plug in the usb to the wireless controller and the PS3 should detect it and ask you to press the ps button (center of controller). Do this and you should get a menu, select RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS, and you will have to input time, date etc but it does get machine working again - previous data is lost and you may need to keep trying as machine took several attempts to detect wireless controller - just persevere!!! I tried pressing buttons etc, switching off but nothing else worked for me ... Hope this helps
