Question about Philips Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

Won't read disk, but does allow setup, ...

After checking and triple-checking cables, ... this unit is set-up (using an RFU adapter that also goes to a SONY PS2 unit).

And... it permits us to go through the set-up options... but when a disk is inserted... it takes a while to "load" and then it (so far, at least) says that the disk format is not readable (yet the SONY PS2 unit has read the same disk).

Looking at other solutions... it sounds like this is a hardware problem that requires a return/exchange?

Help is much appreciated.

Netflix will not connect internet on vizio blueray player

see this steps and fix it. God bless you
    • 1 Reset the player if the device stops behaving normally. (Keep in mind that rotation sounds and picture issues during search are normal.) Select the "System" menu from the setup area and choose "Restore Factory Settings" or a similar option. Allow the device to restart and then try the disc again.
    • 2 Insert the disc face up in the tray. If playback fails to start or if it starts and then stops, wipe the disc with a soft cloth and try again. Throw out any heavily scratched discs that won't play.
    • 3 Change the "TV Aspect" to 16:9 in the setup area of the menu if the picture expands left and right or if the picture size is wrong and you're using an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) cable.
    • 4 Set the wireless Internet router to automatically allow new devices to connect to it if the Insignia player won't connect to the Internet. The player uses only WPS to connect. Some routers that use different automatic setup protocols won't work.
    • 5 Make sure that the connection between the player and the television uses an HDMI cable if you're watching a Blu-ray movie. Some Blu-ray discs will only play over an HDMI connection. Also, remember that some Blu-ray discs won't work with PiP (Picture-in-Picture).

try a DVD cleaning kit and follow instructions, if that won't work! clean lens with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol genly, and allow several minutes to dry, if no result it is cheaper to replace the player than replacing the laser pickup assembly.

My LG combo player recorder will not read netflix dvd's

I had the same problem.
1. check that the disk region is the same as you unit ( it is the global of the world on the CD has a number in the middle, now check the back of your player. They must be same region.
2. Turn the unit on
3.Press the power button and hold for 10 Seconds
3. Turn the unit back on, wait for the time to display.
4. unplug the unit and leave unpluged for 30 seconds
5. plug the unit back in and turn it on, the time should not display should be blank.
6. Unit should go into startup wizard like it is being started for the the very first time. follow the prompts.
7. In the setup menue, I believe it is under disc settings, select set to factory settings.

Once I completed these, I put the netflix movie back in and it now runs,

Hope the same works for you

Reading rca cables

There is obviously a lot of background that is missing form your question, most specifically the kinds of equipment that you are using and the exact way that you have wired the components. However, I can tell you that a common problem when changing the "source" for DVD/VCR units is to also change the source settings inside the unit, which are usually accessed through the setup utility, which is usually in the menu of the DVD/VCR. To access the menu, you may have to have the coax cables hooked up, just until you change the settings to the RCA (component) cables.

Good luck, and let me know if this helps!

Can not read disk

I just sent my BDP-S300 in with same problem...the tech told me he couldn't duplicate the problem and I think I know why...the fix is to UNPLUG the power cable and leave it unplugged for a minimum of 2-3 minutes...this process clears the internal memory; it seems that if you don't clear the memory, it won't read any disc because the unit thinks the same 'problem' disc is in the drive... (don't simply hold down the power button for 5 seconds - that will 'factory reset' the unit to default settings and you will have to reset your video / audio settings) have to physically unplug the unit from the power source...If I had waited a little longer before repowering the unit, I wouldn't have had to send the unit in (obviously the unit was without power during shipping and when it was powered up, internal memory was reset and thus did not indicate any problems). One more trick I learned is this - If a disc won't eject, turn the unit off, and instead of using the Power button to turn unit on, use the Open / Close button...the tech said the unit will then eject the disc before trying to read it...Hope this info helps!
