,i've been using it in exteral case, today i turned it on ,and browse the folders,it suddenly stop responding. i turned it off and on again, but now my computer doesn't reconize it anymore, and the drives making clucking noise every 1 sec,
then the motor stops spining , i tried turning it off and on many times and tried in different computer, but no luck , what could be wrong with it, pls help.

The kiss of death noise for the WD piece of @#$%. I have have six of these fail. If you can get it back up try to to transfer your data immediately because if it is not dead it is about to die.
If you are under warranty I would contact their lousy, useless, unhelpful and awful Tech Support to see if they will replace your unit.
One guy had posted how to get the hard drive out of the case. This will void your warranty but if you are out of warranty, WD steers you to these very expensive data recovery services that are probably affiliated with their lousy products.
Do not ever Buy another WD drive ever again! They absolutely stink and totally unreliable and will fail and you will lose all of your data.
