Question about RCA RS2664 Shelf System

1 Answer

USB port won't playback

I have tried 2 different mp3 players (creative zen and a sansa). Both say "NO SONG" and don't play anything back. We took 1 player to the store display model and it did the same thing. The RCA 1-800 tech "support" people said unplug for 30 minutes to reset - that didn't do anything. the 2nd call they said it was a defective unit.

I have read some reviews where people have said this feature works - is there some trick???

Re: USB port won't playback

I have an RCA LYRA mp3 player and it works fine. I think this system has a very limited amount of mp3 players it will work with.

Could it have been knocked when in storage? Also try cleaning the lens of the CD player see if that makes a difference.

Crosely won't play usb

If it's a turntable with a usb connector, those connections are usually outputs only. USB on a turntable is used to output the audio to a computer to rip albums to digital audio.

I created a mp3 data cd using cd-r and it doesnt play. I create a music mp3 and it plays with no problem. What am I doing wrong?

Many cd players do not have the capability to play mp3 data files. They do not have the processing capacity of a computer, which reads data mp3 and converts it on the fly as easily as other data files used to install software, etc.
If you know your cd player to be mp3 compatible, try burning at a slower speed, like 1/2 the speed the burner is rated for, or less (like 4-8x), to see if the cd player will read that disc. If that doesn't work, try another media brand. Some cds are of inferior quality and won't write well enough for mp3 data files to be read well by all players.

CMT-ED1 cd player works intermittently/partially

Greetings, I have owned this system since around 1999/2000, my CD function started to mal-function a year or so later. It would sometimes play, but more often than not, it would wobble and make strange clicking type noises. I gave up trying to figure the problem out because of the frustration, and didnt want to spring big bucks to take it in the shop to fix professionaly. However...only yesterday, based upon some advice I read online somewhere, I think I solved the problem and I will pass along what I did.
1 I first took some rubbing alcolhol and useing a model paint brush, I dipped the brush into the bottle and applyed it on the laser lense (do this spareingly, do not flood) this cleaned the lense of dust and grime)
2 It played a CD for the first time in 10 years. started to do it's old tricks when I tryed to skip to the next song.
3 I noticed a small button on the right, front side on top of the unit. I think this button serves as a sort of safety stop. I then lifted up the glass lid, and held down the button with my finger. I noticed the lense of the laser go DOWN into the body of the unit. When I released the button, it came back UP.
4 I placed a CD into the player, placed the stabiliser on the top of the CD as normal, AND HELD THE BUTTON DOWN with my finger, LEAVEING THE GLASS TOP UP. It PLAYED. I recorded a Flatt

How can I connect it to the "Front Games and mp3 Inputs

Leah, if you go to wal-mart, you can buy an adapter cord that will plug into the headphone jack of your mp3 player and then plug into your stereo to play your mp3's through it. It looks like a headphone jack on both ends. Cost is approx 3-5 dollars.

Cd player says error

I had the same thing happen to mine, only after six years, After taking the top off, and looking at the inside, I realized it was the belt that had stretched out. I am still trying to find a place that sells replacement belts. I was able to get it to work by taking the belt out, cleaning it with a tissue and some rubbing alcohol, and putting it back in. you may want to look into the belt.

Powering off

I found out that this system only works with some mp3 players in the USB, but you can buy a headphone jack to AUX cable and plug it into the AUX ports and it should work.
