Question about Lite On LITE-ON SOHC-5236V COMBO BK OEM (SOHC5236VBKOEM) Burner
The drive only fails to eject both with the button and software when there is no disc in the drive. Once there is any kind of disc (dvd, cd, rw's, etc) it functions perfectly normal, even ejecting properly with the button and software. I have the latest firmware and drivers but the problem still remains.
The carriage unit in the drive is damaged. when a disc is inserted it trips a small lever in the drive, when the disc is removed it fails to engage this lever. You can open up the drive and use plastic weld to fix the broken plastic part, you can replace the drive or use it as is.. The lever is located to the frount of the drive you'll see it broken...
If the disc is stuck inside you can use a paperclip and push it into the small hole in the frount of the drive..
If you got another old drive that you can get the carriage from you can use that as well
