You could try resetting the toner cartridge settings. OPen the machines front door where you would replace the cartridges. On the top panel you will see a "clear/back" button. Press it and on the display you will see a reset menu come up. Arrow to each one and hit the OK button. Press "1" to reset. Once you have gone through all close the front door of the machine and press stop to bring the display back to normal.

Hope this helps.

Yes, it worked for me too, but I fudged. Didn't replacing the cartridge, but took it out & rocked it back & forth. Is that OK?

Thanks striekr321!! I replaced two toner colors and I kept getting the toner life end message. After doing as you suggested it took some minutes to "Warm up" but after that it worked like a charm. Thanks for sharing your solution, you made my day!!

I get a message to replace toner, i replaced and still get the messag

You may want to try the following steps:
  • Step 1 - First turn on your printer: Brother MFC 9840CDW.
  • Step 2 - Push the button on the front of the printer to open the cartridge cover or the front panel of the printer where you can access the toner cartridges. However, do not remove the toner cartridges (Brother TN-115).
  • Step 3 - Push the Clear/Back button and hold still to bring up a reset menu. There are 8 different toner functions ( two Black, two Cyan , two Magenta, and two Yellow).
  • Step 4 - For each of the eight functions in turn, push the O.K. button and then push it again to indicate 'Reset'. After a few seconds, it will say 'Accepted' and will then display a message that the cover is open.
  • Step 5 - Repeat the steps 3 and 4 for each of the other eight toner functions as needed.
  • Step 6 - Once your finished, close the front cover of your printer so the status bar will be reset to normal with no error message.
  • Also, you may want to clean the corona wires for each toner. Clean the corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the green tab from left to right and right to left several times.

Brother MFC-9440CN Laser Printer is saying toner life end and I just put a new cartridge in.

If you want to reset your Brother MFC 9440N machine so you no longer have the error message: Toner End of Life, do the following:

1. Open the front cover of the 7820N, that is, the cover that allows you to pull out the toner and drum, but don't pull out the drum/toner.
2. Push the button: Options (located on the left of the control pad).
3. Type: *00 on the keypad.

The Brother MFC 9440N should be reset and the Toner End of Life message should disappear. Warning, this may void your warranty and ultimately damage your machine if you are reusing or refilling your cartridges, but you should already know that. Hope this helps.

Refill toner Brother MFC 7420

open front cover, press OPTION button, on the LCD will appear a message "NEW DRUM?" ....DO NOT RESPOND....just type on the keyboard "*00" and there will appear a message "Accepted" and use it in your pleasure.

PS. in any case i blocked with paper labels the viewing windows from transparent plastic on the toner itself....

MFC 8460N giving Toner Life End message

I just solved my own problem. Try it for yours. I had been using several compatible toners for the MFC-8460N with no problems until today, as I posted earlier. On a hunch, I went to the local office supply store and purchased one original Brothers TN550 toner and put it into the printer and closed the cover. Everything clicked. Toner End Life message gone. I then took that Brother toner out and put the compatible one back in and still everything was fine. Am keeping the original Brother toner as a "kickstarter" if it happens again.
