Power Scan Tips
performing the Power Scan, periodically check that the mode light is
not lit when the channel up/down button is depressed. This will ensure
the Power Scan is performed correctly.
The Power Scan
will start with the last code you put in. If the last code you put in
was 656 it will then go to 657 when pressing the Up button when
performing a Power Scan.
If there is no code
programmed into the remote at the time of the Power Scan then it will
start with 000 regardless of the type of remote.
the scan then proceeds ascending or descending from this number depends
on whether you scan with the Up or Down buttons on the remote. For
consistency, and to most rapidly go through the most common codes more
quickly, you should use the up button exclusively, unless you pass a
functional code by accident and wish to toggle back down to it.
Manually turn on the device you are scanning for before you begin the Power Scan.

replace a remote simply because it does not operate a device. UNLESS it
formerly did so and now no longer works and you have tried appropriate
troubleshooting. (Tip: try programming code into AUX mode as a
temporary workaround should a single mode like TV or VCR fails).
If you are performing a Power Scan in AUX mode, the steps you should follow are below:
Hold down the AUX button so all buttons light up
Enter in prefix 0 = TV, 1 = VCR , 2 = AUX device
Press the asterisk button "*"
Power then press the Up/Down like you would with a regular power scan.

We would be happy to help you with getting your DISH remote working with DVD player. In order for us to give you a specific code for your DVD player we would need to know the brand. We recommend performing a power scan; this scans the remote for a code that will work with your DVD player. Power scan instructions:
Step 1: Press and hold the VCR/DVD mode button until all mode button back lights illuminate, then release.
Step 2: Press and release the Power button.
Step 3: Press the Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the desiredequipment. If the code for the equipment comes up, the equipment will poweroff.
Step 4: Press the pound (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, themode light flashes three times.
After doing the power scan please remember to put the remote back into SATmode. Thanks so much for being a valued DISH Network customer!

I had rca remote that did not recieve ir signals but rf signals instead. Check online with rca or in owners manual for what type of signal factory remote sends. The dvd player I had was 5 dvd and that was the case. Dish might have an option like direct tv where you can program rf signals as well. Call dish network support or look online
There are devices that will convert the video/audio outputs available from the back of the Dish receivers into the format needed to input to a PC (and maybe Mac too) but beyond that, you would need either an external DVD recorder or a VCR that has lived past its time.
The Tevion model we have is currently offered on eBay for a starting bid of $10 US:

You will need a 6.4kit or 6.3kit and remote to communicate with the 510 receiver. The remote you have is a 6.0 and may work with the kit but I have never tried that application before and Dish does not recommend that remote as a replacement for the original. An 8.0 remote would work also. Thanks for using Fix Ya and let me know if I can be of further assistance.
