Error Msg: PAPER JAM in Brother MFC-8840D

At bottom, scrolling instructions say "Open cover, then remove jammed paper." I've done this and there is no jammed paper left, but error msg remains -- even after turning power on and off! Status LED remains red.

I have the same problem; error indicate ''paper jam" no paper inside the machine.

My MFC-8840D also shows paper jammed, and has no paper stuck anywhere!!!

  • audibev Feb 12, 2009

Out of nowhere our printer decided that it had a paper jam, and that we needed to open the cover and remove the paper jam. Well I have done that and their is no paper jam. I have removed and open everything to see if there was paper stuck anywhere else and there isn't. I have also turned the printer On and Off and it still shows that message. It is making it unpossible to do print, fax, or copy anything. Any input would be so appreciated! Thank you!!!

Had paper jam which have cleared. Getting support code 6001 saying turn off and restart which we have done but still keeps coming up with same error

The 6001 error is a generic internal error code. Unfortunately, it could mean one of many things. To resolve the 6001 error, please follow the following steps:

1. Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord and USB cable.

2. Remove paper from the automatic sheet feeder (in the back).

3. Gently pull jammed paper out, if any.

3-1. If paper is visible from the ASF, use both hands to pull the paper out slowly.

3-2. If paper is visible from the paper output slot, use both hands to pull the paper out slowly.

4. If the paper tears and a piece of that remains inside the printer, open the printer cover and remove the paper from inside the printer.

5. Check ASF with a bright light to check for obstructions. Remove any if found.

6. Open the rear cover to check if the paper is jammed.

7. Pull out the cassette and check if the paper is jammed inside the cassette area.

8. Load paper back into the ASF or cassette.

9. Reconnect the power cord, turn on the printer and confirm that the Alarm light is off. (If there was any jammed paper remaining in the printer, the paper may be automatically ejected.)

Paper jam on screen will not reset

To clear the error message Paper Jam after you removed the jammed paper, open and close the scanner cover.
If you still receive the error message, a small piece of paper may be stuck inside your Brother machine.

How do I fix a paper jam? I've got paper jam around the exit roller and I can't get it out?

There should be a way to unlock one of the sides. Try taking out the toner cartridge and going in that way. If you can see the paper, get a pair of needle nose pliers and SLOWLY see if you can pull the paper out.

Hi I had a paper jam in my MFC 8820d - I removed the cover and removed the paper but I still get a Paper Jam error msg. I powered down the machine and turned back on - still same error msg. I have removed...

This can sometimes be related to paper dust interfering with a sensor. A burst of canned air can fix the problem. Just pull out the toner, open all of the covers and spray air into all the little crevices. You might want to do this outside, in case toner is loose in ther, so as not to make a mess.

  6. Close the Left Cover on the DADF until you hear it click into place.
  7. Raise the DADF, remove all the originals, and then lower the DADF.
  8. Make sure your originals are not torn, wrinkled, or folded. Load your originals again following the instructions on the Touch Screen.

NOTE: Originals that have already been scanned will automatically be skipped, and scanning will resume from the previous document sheet.

  9. Torn, wrinkled, or folded originals may cause paper jams and damage. Place the originals directly on the Document Glass to make new originals that can be scanned using the DADF.

Brothe MFC-240C paper jam error msg won't clear

**, it is not fixed. I followed instructions on Brother web site and was able to find a piece of paper near the printhead, so I removed it. The printer makes a grinding sound when it tries to print and the same paper jam error returns and can't be cleared. I beleive that the printer repair cost will be more expensive than replacing it with a different printer, and it won't be Brother brand. I probably would not be able or have the tools to do any complicated repair job.
