Question about E-Machines (308714) Motherboard

1 Answer

E machine won't turn on

While the e machine was in use, the tower turned off, but the monitor remained on. I thought the battery might have died, so I replaced it, but the computer still won't turn on. The power supply seems to be fine, but I haven't been able to get the current to run through it. Any suggestions.

You have to be sure about power check outlets power and power supply with power supply tester you can get that on any computer store i get mines from fry'z electronics after you check that probably not have to do any other test to me is the power supply if any of the out lines from power supply is bad you can have that problem the out lines have 12v 5v 3.3v and 3v so check that

Processors do not have monitors. Or lights for that matter. What monitor do you have and is the button you hit on the monitor or your computer tower? Are the lights on the monitor or the tower? These are important questions, don't you think?

Hi, When you are getting the problem, is it after turning on the computer? Do you hear the windows starting? kindly check the computer tower if it is on or not. Usually the monitor will give you that message if the tower is not turned on.
Hope this helps.

New computer tower motherboard(Intel D945GCPE), Processor(Intel Celeron 430 LGA775), memory, hard-drive(ATA), & dvd-rom(ATA). Got it all installed in new tower(ATX,I have green light on the motherboard...

First try to clear CMOS

Turn off the system and disconnect power cables

Locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard and take out the battery

Wait for about 15 minutes

Reconnect battery and try to turn it on.

If it remain same, disconnect power cables

Disconnect hard drive and CD/DVD drives

Try to turn on again.

Also check if the front panel connectors (Power SW, Reset, HDD connector) are properly connected.

Took cover off my tower and blew out the dust and when I hooked it all back up my monitor said no signal and light on my mouse just flashes

Lets tackle the monitor first: A no signal message indicates one of two things;
  • The video card isn't properly seated; (if the video card is on board skip to next step) just moving the video cable on the monitor to unplug it is enough to unseat the video card. Open the tower again and make sure the card is firmly in place.
  • If the video is onboard, the plug may not be firmly in place. Check the screws that hold the plug in place and see if they are turned as far as they will go; there's a chance the plug is only partially making contact giving you the no signal message
As far as the mouse goes, the only reason the machine won't recognize the mouse would be a faulty connection in the USB port. Assuming no damage was done while blowing the dust out, double check the USB port, maybe even changing ports to see if the mouse comes back. If your machine is anything like mine, space behind the tower can get kinda cramped and just putting it back into place and reconnecting the power cord can pull just enough on the lines to pull a line just enough to disrupt your connection.

Hope this answers your questions. Best of luck.

Tower turns on monitor shows no signal

I am guessing what you mean is that the monitor won't turn on. Does it have a green light or a yellow light that turns on?
If it is plugged in, there should be a light. If not, the monitor is bad. If the light is on but there is no video, then your video card has gone bad.
