Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S40 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Multiple image capture

On occassion, and for no reason I can see, the camera will take 3 to 6 images at one time. You get a stop action of someone walking across the room or 3 or 4 pictures of someone just sitting in a chair.

Anyone have this problem and have any idea how to fix it?

Make sure your motion shots is off. check out the camera for anything that looks like 3 squares stagering down. if that is on this will cause your problem. it need to be set on one square only for single photos.

Generally the image capturing button should press 1-3 secs to get a picture. If it doesn't works there might be some hardware problem. But first try to Restore the phone by typing *#7780# and capture. If the problem still persist contact mobile repairing shop. The camera switch may damage .Or at least clean the pcb if you can remove the cover ..Thanks for visiting fixya

Multiple versions of same image transferred

Nikon uses the .nef files as a RAW file. These, like the Canon RAW, are like a digital negative. They contain all the image information captured by the camera, along with the image's metadata (the camera's identification and its settings, the lens used and other information). My suggestion is: I assume you are going to use the JPG files, so simply delete the others.

Fuji j10 - my mac wont recognise it even using finepix

I had the same problem with my camera & mac.  I got this off the Fuji site and it worked for me:
If images cannot be downloaded from the camera to a Macintosh, check the status of the camera and the Macintosh and resolve the problem accordingly.

1) Check the status of the camera and Macintosh.
1. Connect your camera to the Macintosh and turn the camera on.
2. Open the "Applications" folder on the Macintosh HD.
3. Double-click "Image Capture".
* If the "Imaging device not connected" message appears, follow the steps described in [Checking the connection between the camera and PC].
4. Select "Preferences" from the "Image Capture" menu.
5. The procedure for using the Image Capture Preferences window differs depending on the OS version used. Use the correct procedure for your version of Mac OS.
- Mac OS 10.4: Click "General" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.3: Click "Camera" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.2: Simply proceed to the next step.
6. In "Items launched at camera connection", select "FPVBridge" and then click the [OK] button.
* If FPVBridge is not among the displayed items, follow the steps in [Displaying FPVBridge] below.
7. Quit "Image Capture".

If you implement the above procedure up to step 6, FinePix Viewer launches automatically.
* To stop FinePix Viewer from launching automatically, follow the steps in [FinePix Viewer Setup] below.

sounds like someone has changed the shutter speed. Look in owners manual on how to change back to default. might also look at the picture type settings but setting the camera for action shots u will get better images if there is movement in the image.

NEF Image will not open - Macintosh

RAW NEF images from Nikon cameras are proprietary formatted raw data directly from the cameras's sensor. If the images are improperly transferred to the computer they will not be able to be opened and will give an "Unsupported File Format" warning. Macintosh OS X has an "Image Capture" application (found in: Hard Drive/Applications/)that can be used to transfer images. If "Image Capture" is used NEF files will be corrupted and will not be able to be read. Only Nikon View, or manually dragging images from the mounted card, should be used to transfer NEF's. To disable "Image Capture": Double-click to open the hard drive and then the "Applications" folder Double-click "Image Capture" From the "Image Capture" menu choose "Preferences..." In the "When a camera is connected" pop-up choose "No Application" Close the Preferences window and Quit Image Capture After disabling Image Capture, it will not launch when the camera is connected and you can use Nikon View to properly transfer NEF images.
